Root A different kind of help needed

So I dropped my phone in water a while back. No problem, dried after a day, worked like normal. Well I dropped it in water again over a month ago. But this time it took two days to dry. After day one I figured it was toast, so I went out and bought the motion. Then after the 2nd day, the Admire turned on. But it was in a soft brick. I let it dry for weeks and tried every few days for a couple weeks after that, but still in a soft brick. I figured the phone was done.

But!, this just occurred to me.... Could my Admire be in a soft brick because I took the SD card out and put it in my motion? If the SD card had the files on it, then that would explain it.

Now lets say I am correct. I erased the files I had on the sd card. Could I just download the files again, put it on the card, and slip it in the Admire, or will that not work?

I had OA on it. If there is a newer version, will I have to find an older version? Also, what other files did I have on in order to run it? Like CWM and so on. I can look it up, as I will have to, but I am hoping someone will have the info off hand as to save me time and reading.

Any help is much appreciated as this is going to my mother (who has gone from being a tweaking homeless women to a working women in the last year. I am very proud of her), who would like to play games while riding the bus to and from work, and while living in her new apartment.

Thanks a ton preemptively

ok , If its any help , I have an admire that i have removed the sd card and it is booting just fine. you could try loading ff18 update but thats the best i can help you, try getting in d/l or recovery mode.
Try what you got to loose. Good luck. And it is kinda off subject for motion. you might try private messaging a guide or search the all things Root Stickys in admire section.

any android phone will boot without an sdcard as long as you weren't doing any dual booting stuff where the os was on the sdcard. I'm not very familiar with the admire specifically, but if you guys have a stock image you could try flashing that with odin to get you back to functioning stock, if not, see if it will boot to recovery and flash a rom. I'm thinking its pretty likely that the phone is not booting because it can't read from nand because the pins are corroded/shorted from either the water or minerals in the water. if that is the case, your best bet would be taking it all apart, cleaning the board in rubbing alcohol, then letting it dry overnight and hope for the best.

Well first of all the only thing stored on the sdcard is data. The important stuff gets stored on the actual system so even deleting everything off of your sdcard wouldnt cause your phone to be soft bricked. SO there's nothing that needs to be on your sdcard to let you run OA or to enter cwm. Also what do you mean by soft brick? Does it turn it on but gets stuck at the sch screen or does the phone light up but nothing appears on screen?

OK I merged your 2 post together, we ask not to post in 2 different forums with the same question. You seem to got responses in both, cheers.

thanks for all the replies.

Soft brick (from my understanding, and I am probably wrong) is, when I power up, the samsung logo comes on, it shows the model number. It sits there for a a few seconds and , then goes black again, and repeats with the logo and model number as if it turned off and rebooted. It will continue to do this until I pull the battery out.

Again, thanks for all the replies. I was way off on my thinking ha!

That's a type of soft-brick, but it sounds like you should be able to boot to recovery or download mode.

I try to boot to recovery, but the screen stays black. I can get into download mode, but I don't know what to do. I have no files on my sd card or computer any longer.

I downloaded Odin, and CWM. But I am confused on what to do. I am reading different threads now.

I dont think Odin recongnizes my phone. There is no yellow com box anywhere. I can't find a post that shows that box, but there is nothing yellow all the same

you're kinda screwed....

if you drop your phone is water...next time...take it apart as much as you can without unscrewing stuff (i.e. take out the battery and the sim/sd/4g card(s) and/or TPU/Silicone skin) put it in a bag of dry rice for 24 hours...do not try to turn it on...do not try to do anything until 24 hours of it drying out in a bag of rice has passed...

i do not think it's going to get recovered...

yeah, I have followed many threads now. Nothing seems to work.

I am affraid that it is done.

Thanks for all the replies.

If you can get into download mode odin should be able to detect it. Try downloading the samsung update tool for the admire and see if that works. And make sure you have the drivers installed for the phone.

As Kage said, yes, download mode is your salvation. If the COM1 box isn't showing, it could be a driver issue, you could need to run ODIN as an Administrator, could need a different USB cable, etc.

I wouldn't give up just yet.
