Hello everyone! Not many of you may recognize me; I'm a lurker of these forums.

Anyhow, today marks the end of my EVO V days as I have just changed to the Galaxy S2. The EVO V was my first phone and I just wanted to thank you everyone for their work on this phone and helping me root my first phone. You made it a much better experience :)

I would especially like to thank Mobsterz for his dedication. Throughout my use of the EVO V, I always relied on his ROMs. I might update my EVO V every once in a while since I have plans for it and I will always go to his ROMs.

Thank you again everyone! Adieu.
 
Sadly, I feel we'll all be leaving at some point.

When I left the EVO 4G forum (I still stop in now and then) it was a tearful moment. But now, I get to know you guys...at least until I upgrade :p
 
I'm strongly considering buying a nexus 4 and going to T-Mobile or AT&T. The way they have this phone setup on the virgin/sprint network. Its far from being reliable. I was hoping the OTA update we all got a while back would fix the shitty service but it hasn't. It did seem to fix MMS. I have a buddy on sprint and he has the same phone. He gets 4g in my house. I don't. I have to go outside. And yes I've tried all the radios. I understand SPRINT should have priority over VIRGIN. But we should still be able to get similar coverage. Sadly... Its anything but

I already bought an unlocked tmobile phone. I am fed up with virgin Mobile and it's terrible coverage. What annoys me is that virgin uses the crappy Nextel network. :(

That's sad to hear. Luckily for me, I am ignorant to 4G issues as my Evo V gets much better 4G reception than my OG EVO ever did. So for me, it's an upgrade. :D
 
I only wish I waited a few months instead of paying 300 for this phone, I could of paid 300 for a nexus that TRUMPS this phone

Which network would you be on, and what would your monthly bill be? What level of service would you get on that plan?

I'm curious as moving to VM and the EVO V was a method for me to save money. The EVO V is a clear upgrade to my OG EVO, and my monthly service dropped from $96 to $38.25 (but buying top ups on crazygametime saves me an additional 15% off the $45 plan). Can you imagine paying $96 month to month for an OG EVO in 2013? :mad: I just had to do something.

I calculated my return on investment to be May 2013 to pay off the EVO V. That's right around the corner, so I am sort of a free agent again in May. I'm curious to know if I can upgrade to the Nexus 4 and still pay $38.25 somewhere for adequate service.

I'm planning on moving to the next Nexus after the Nexus 4 since I want to use my Evo for at least one year (I bought it in September). I went on T-Mobile.com a while ago and saw a plan that is $30 with 5GB of data, 100 minutes, and unlimited texting. It said it was an online only deal, so I chatted online with a rep and they said as long as you buy the Micro SIM online, you can activate the Nexus 4 for the good $30 per month plan.

Damn. 100 minutes is a deal breaker for me. I need a minimum of 400-500, but it's nice to know I can go higher if needed with the 1200 I have now. Back when I was on Sprint, with mobile to any mobile, and nights/weekends...I only needed about 200 or so anytime minutes (the everything data with 450 was perfect for me), but with prepaid, a minute, is a minute, is a minute, so I can't use that plan unfortunately :(

Since I know from personal experience that the nexus 4 can receive T-Mobile's LTE, I may switch back if calling apps like Groove IP/Talkatone will work better on LTE. The overall data connectivity isn't reliable enough for me on HSPA+ to use those apps.

Server I was forced to use was Kansas but I live in Vegas.

I think the app might be wrong... I didn't think the Nexus 4 was an LTE device, nor does T-Mobile have LTE quite yet, though I'm not sure on that.

Edit: That could be AT&T LTE. The Ping and upload speeds seem like LTE speeds.

Virgin doesn't have anything to do with Nextel, they run on Sprints 3G and Clears WiMAX network, the only thing that's on the Nextel network is Sprints ptt/walkie talkie service which is currently being phased out and by the end of the year they'll be no more Sprint/Nextel, they're renaming to just plain old Sprint. :p

for me going to T-Mobile would be a side step, not an upgrade, since VM gets 2g speeds where I live, but when I last tried it, T-Mo got no G lol I would have to drive a few miles to use my phone (place I worked used to use T-Mo a few years back, they were roaming on AT&T, and it worked great, then they dropped the agreement anyplace they felt they had enough of their own coverage (lol) I guess enough meant gaping holes in the coverage . my main phone is on Straight Talk (looking for an LG Thrill for that :> ) and the VM was really only bought for its 3d features, right now its not active, but I do activate it sometimes, when I know I'll be in an area where it will work better
