Help A Few Newbie...ish Questions

I have an LG Optimus M, so this is in the right forum. Also, I am only new to Android, I am good with technology and I do understand root (Linux user).

1. What is the best method to back up my entire phone? I want to back up EVERYTHING on both the phone and the SD card just in case (wanting to try to root).

2. Is there a way to wirelessly tether without rooting? If not, how do you get it to work using the z4root method?

3. If I have to do a restore using LG software or something, can I recover apps I PURCHASED from the Market for free? If so, how?

That should be all for now, thanks everyone! :)

1.I think the only way you can get a full backup is using nandroid, but no idea on how to use that.

I use Titanium Backup to backup to my SD card. As far as the SD card, just back manually copy it to your machine when you connect it to a laptop/desktop.

2. I think you can use PDANet to WiFi tether but limits you to only using HTTP, HTTPS sites are not allowed unless you buy the app.

If you run z4root, just "root" the phone and download
http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/

and run the app, pretty self explanatory.

3.Sounds like the restore function is really limited to only "upgrading/recovering" to 2.2.1. But sounds like someone is working on creating a recovery image.
