Root A few questions? After root?

Ok so I just rooted my thunderbolt I think. I used the how to on android police manual method with adb. This being my first root I am not sure how to tell if it worked or not. The phone seems to be setup correctly, I have superuser and rom manager with clockwork recovery installed. However when I try to install titanium it tells me Root access: Failed. Not sure whats up with it. Now that I rooted it how do I flash a new rom?

Root checker says im rooted so I guess it did work. I installed busybox. Then restarted and now TI seems to be working. Now how do I rid myself of the bloat?

You could start by flashing a ROM. They pretty much all get rid of the main bloat. Then you can decide what else you want to get rid of.

If you want to do it on your own or in addition to, you would do so through Titanium Backup. In TB what you want to do is click on each item you want to lose and "freeze" it. What this does is hide it from your system. As a test you can leave it frozen for a few days and see if it affects your system at all. Then you can delete it. I know for a fact you cannot get rid of the standard texting app or it will screw things up. You would have to reflash your ROM to get it back.

Thank for the help. I tried to freeze the blockbuster app and it tells me I can't freeze unless I buy the donated version of TI, should I buy it, uninstall or wipe data? I want to get rid of BB, Bitbop, and a few other vzw apps. Also this may sound dumb but what are the step to flashing a rom? I want to try either bamf, or perfect storm.

I got through it lol. I got Bamf 1.4 remix installed. Really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was just scared of ruining my phone.

I just realized I don't have the battery meter in the center of the screen or the background. Any help in getting them would be appreciated.

I am still learning the ins and out of android with my TB. When you flash a new rom, What happens to the root on your phone? Is it reinstalled with the new rom? Is there a separate area where the root is permanently stored on the TB? Can someone answer this for me?

that wall paper is the nexus one live wall paper... the battery meter in letters is an app... I forget which app but its not installed in the rom...

and to the post above me... all roms that you will install will be rooted... the S-off is permanent which you gain when you did the downgrade during root... only way to really "lose" root is to install the stock RUU via Hboot and that will put it back to day 1 stock S-on no root... anything you install via clockwork should be fine
