This is my first foray into Android. I've been using iPhones since the 3G. I'm not very familiar at all with the root process and am a bit overwhelmed with how many different versions of android os and android phones there are, and the importance of finding just the right route to root your phone. I have the following questions about the process, if any of you have the time to clarify these things for me I would be grateful.
1. I'm on Android 2.2.2, system version 4.1.83. All the rooting info that I've found has been for 4.1.57. Is there a root method for 4.1.83?
2. What software are rooters referring to when they say how relieved they are that they freezed the bloatware/crapware?
3. What exactly about Motoblur is active in stock form that's irritating people so bad that they want to disable it? I feel that I'm pretty happy with the way my phone works stock so I'm not sure what Motoblur is doing.
4. I am grandfathered into the unlimited data plan with ATT. I was interested in rooting specifically to be able to us the Atrix as a hotspot. Is this something that other users have done and have no issues with ATT? I average about 2-3GB of data per month. I would like to use the hotspot so I can access the web with my iPhone. I still use my iPhone for photography and blogging. I don't think that rooting and using it as a hotspot will change my data usage at all, but what hidden speed bumps are there with using this feature via rooting?
I guess that's it for now. Thanks again everybody.
