Root A few questions [Solved]

track02

Lurker
Hello,

Just rooted my desire and thought I'd try changing my boot animation.

I've copied the bootanimation.zip to the root of my SD Card but whenever I copy it to /system/customise/resources (overwriting the HTC animation) it instantly reverts back to the original HTC boot animation.

I have not flashed any ROMs, just using stock, I also do not have S-OFF.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

The only way you can do it then is adb push to the location. Follow the red link in my signature and read the adb and fastboot faq. Ignore the fastboot stuff.

Thanks, I'll try that out.

Do you know why the file was being reverted?
Answered in your FAQ.

Edit: Worked perfectly, thanks. I'll have to try altering the splash screen next.

I've been doing some reading and have a few questions: (Changed thread title)

Looking at this tutorial [TUTORIAL] How to S-OFF your HTC Desire - xda-developers

It mentions having to flash a custom recovery, but as I've used unrevoked is this still required?

Also, I've read that some ROMs support A2SD+ which requires partitioning.

Do I need to partition my SD card to use these ROMs, or can I just not use A2SD+ and keep apps on the internal memory?

Lastly, after I get S-OFF I'm looking to flash the Redux ROM.

Would it be worth upgrading my radio beforehand?

Thanks again.

Edit - Figured this stuff out myself.
