Help A general question

Hi everyone. I'm a new android user, i'm using a samsung galaxy s2 bought just a few days ago.
Can i know will anything happen if i flash firmware using Odin, many times?
For some reason, i flashed it quite a few times, so i'm really afraid something might happen.
Help greatly appreciated.

There's always the chance that something might go wrong when flashing with odin, but as long as your phone is working now nothing did. I must have flashed with odin 20ish times (if you add flashes with cwm recovery it must be over 100) and my phones better than it was before. You don't need to worry about the amount of times you use odin you just need to make sure you follow the instructions to the letter. From experience there's more chance of doing harm to your phone the first time you flash compared to the 20th

Flash memory does have a "life" to it, in that reading and writing will degrade it each time, but flashing won't accelerate the process beyond normal use.

If you flash our phone frequently, I think a bigger risk would be damaging the USB connector from repeated plugging and unplugging.

@shotgun84: Ouh, okay, so as long as i follow everything correctly and my phone is able to operate means its okay?

@lunatic59: Err, means every flash i do will make the phone worsen?

I'm actually thinking, becus i flash more than 1 time, will there be like more than 1 copies of things inside my phone??

No more than just using it normally. Flashing does't excessively stress the hardware

No. Flashing will replace everything on your phone each time you do it.

Unless you rooted and did a nandroid backup there will only ever be one. But I think I get where you're coming from. What was on your phone in the first place shouldn't effect what's on there now. But if you ever run into a problem witha specific bit just go to settings, applications, manage applications, then find the problematic thing and clear data.

@lunatic59: Okay! That cleared out all my doubts! Err, just one last question, if i've flashed and rooted, how to i make it back to the initial state?

P.S I saw from a thread saying just flash back the official firmware will do right? but after i flash back the official firmware and i enter download mode i still see the "custom binary download" showing yes(1 count). can you help?

Can i know, is it a must to flash before rooting??
