the guide is actually misleading
its not creating a custom rom but more pulling apart an existing one and adding some extra things to it then calling it your own

You can use eclipse to modify the source code, but first you have to install ubuntu 10.04 and configure the build environment and learn to compile the existing source. This is the stage I am at.
