my s3 mini seems to have locked the home screens so i cant add apps
does anyone know how to unlock this
also when i plug a charger in it makes the most camp noise ever wud like to change that
emoji's on face book come up as boxes is there a way to sort this
im having real difficulities with this device it seems to just be playing right up
ive just rooted it thinkig it would help
there is an icon of an sd card and it says prepairing sd card
checking for errors and when i click on it the phone just freezes
somebody please help
also would a custom rom help and what are the favourites people use

A quick note so you know the issue isn't unoticed (although I need to go to bed now - I'm in France). Perhaps post again with details of your S3 mini (model no, android version, method of rooting and anything else which could be relevant. It sounds to me as if the initial issues i your first post may have been related to lack of available storage?

I'll try to get back to this tomorrow, but that info will help anyone who looks.

Is it a 8190N with NFC or not? Also which carrier is it on and has that changed? (Just trying to check the firmware)

I think your best bet may be to initially reinstall stock firmware from sammobile.com and see if that solves the issues. (Try a factory reset first of course)

its 8190n not sure about nfc its on giffgaff so pressume its unlocked to any carrier

it was all workin fine the other day until this icon appeared tellin me checkin for errors

if I take the card out it works fine
I just dont want to lose whats on the memory card
it wont mount it
I thought rooting it would help for some reason but to be honest I have no idea

the external sdcard was causing the problems I managed to get all pics off it and tried to format it on laptop but both ways failed as it said it was write protected
trusty xbox formatted it for me and jobs a good un

ive down loaded boot animations tryin to change my boot anim but none work do you know if I need to upgrade mine is 4.1.2
 
Hi again

4.1.2 is the latest (and probably last) version of android on this phone. I've had SD cards do that before and had to reformat using gparted on linux (no xbox here!). It does sound like your rooting/root app is not working - go into th root app supersu? and check that it is enabled in its settings

its there in superuser settings
just doenst seem to work on mine
but I did read somewhere doesnt work on some samsung devices and will have to
install a custom kernal
