out story match,...I just bought my cappy Xcul's kernel with Jl3 modem...my cappy is so happy..and that makes me happy :D
 
Is it all that, Jack? :D I'm definitely going to join you soon, Pimlical has arrived, but it only works on 2.2 - although CESD did say he might come out with a 2.1 version now that he understands not everyone needs to move it to the SD card.

In all seriousness, besides the oft-praised benefits of this ROM and its developer, a major plus for me is freedom. Freedom from relying on an organization that has shown little respect for its users.

I can't speak for vinny, but a lot of people use xcal's kernel because it is not over clocked.
 
What are some of the differences between Cognition Auxura and Assonance? I'm running Cognition currently, but just curious to know what the differences are and which one seems to run better.

I've run all three of those. The best thing I can tell you is to try them out. There are a lot of stylistic differences. If you go over to xda and check out the threads for each rom, you can see what kernel, modem and lagfix they are running. You can also see what bugs people are reporting.

Not trying to blow you off, but it really is a matter of personal preference.

P.S. don't forget to look at perception too. It's made by the same person who did cognition.

Yes, I've read about over clocking, so this is good to know. There's so much info over on XDA, it cam be overwhelming to a newbie like me!

I'm keeping my eye on Supercurio's work, too, on the Nexus One Gingerbread port - he's teaming up with the Cyanogen guys and is working on something - maybe we'll be running Gingerbread before Samsung issues Froyo.

I just tried to respond to this, but it got erased. Basically all I said was it definitely seems overwhelming at first, but once you figure out the basics, it becomes second nature. If you have any questions, feel free. I am by no means an expert, but I like to help out where I can.
 
this is such a nice thread, sure is a nice change from the cappy bashin. it has really put me in the holiday spirit man:D, so here we go

twas five months before christmas
as i sat on my couch,
reading of phones
that were soon coming out.
when what would my wandering eyes
trip to see
a real android phone,
from AT&T
Off of my couch I flew like a rocket
to get a linux pc,
that could fit in my pocket.
With a beautiful screen
thats glow lit my eye,
only GPS
caused me to sigh.
I flew to my house
and pulled out my chair,
then bricked my phone
and pulled out some hair.
finally I did it,
I flashed my first rom
I noticed that minute,
I was up all night long.
I flashed and flashed
I just could not stop
finally Cognition
came out on top.
now with my phone,
she's like my best friend
and with ten thousand roms
this fun will not end.
My wife makes fun of me,
and says she dont get this
she dont understand,
I needed Froyo by Christmas.

How ridiculous is that, I need help :p

I used Xcul to get stable kernel and avoid problems caused becoz of oc/uv....Its meant to run at 1ghz so why test its patients lol...

I get good speed and performance, I am happy....

Agree with tyler...its awesome to flash flash flash...:D

Still on honeymoon. No FCs or non-working features. Feels solid. Native browser fastest (vs. Opera and xScope). I can't objectively comment on battery life since my daily usage varies so much. I just replied to your GPS question in another thread, but here it is again for your viewing pleasure:

Quick test this morning:

8 Sats within 20 seconds
SNR approx. 35
16 feet

Shelbster is driving me crazy. This morning he's got a woody for Eugene's Ginger Clone. He's so fickle :).

Speaking of fickle, both sremick and I have had restore issues with Titanium, so I would definitely make full backups to an external SD with both Titanium and MyBackup Pro before abandoning Eclair.

I will echo that once you see Eclair in the rear view mirror, you won't make a U-Turn to retrieve it.
 
:D LOL, thanks for the morning laugh! Cool, I'm happy you're still happy. Have you gone to 5.2? Supposedly now you won't have to wipe every time you upgrade.

I made a couple of edits to my post - you may wish to re-visit it.

Re: 5.2, not yet. Waiting for a bit of dust to settle over at his XDA thread. Plus I've PM'd a buddy asking whether, in his opinion, the new iteration is worth flashing to.

I am still on Darky's 6.0.3. He has a 7.0 out now but he going to fix a few things and update soon so I am going to wait a few days before I update to his ROM. After I do 7.0 and use a while I will probably try a few other ROMs and make a Final decision well a Final decision for a few days...LOL.

I've found final decisions aren't very final. There is always something new to try.
