Root a mac user in great need

i hate to post a new thread when i know someone has had to have a similar posts but ive been looking everywhere and i cant solve this problem. first, im on a mac, my rezound is unlocked

moving thread to "all things root" section
Reason: thread is specific to root methods for the ReZound
thanks for understanding. :)

I'm not a mac person, but I am a Linux person ... and macs are *nix based machines. My first thought about the "command not found" problem is that "." is not in your path (that's actually the common setup for security reasons).

so ... instead of trying:

Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

try, instead:

Code:
./fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

the "./" tells your shell that you know what you are doing, and to go ahead and run the fastboot command from the current directory. You may have to prepend it to other commands as well ...

Hope that helps! If not, feel free to ask and I'll see what I can figure out ;-)

thanks for that reply. i believe you are correct... ive seen the "./" in fromt of mac/linux adb commands before, but never knew exactly why.

hopefully that works for the OP :)

yeah i use a mac and i have a Windows VM i always get confused when using ADB on both because the Mac takes the ./ at the beginning.

You can actually change this behavior by modifying your path.

you can find instructions here.

Be sure, however, to add "." to the end of your path, no the beginning, like:

export PATH=$PATH:.
not
export PATH=.:$PATH

that way system binaries get top priority.
