I've rooted two Samsungs before this (Exhibit II 4g and Galaxy S II) and after going through the Root Guide, I thought the N4 would be a piece of cake. I couldn't be more wrong.
First, I started with Wug's Toolkit, and like a good script kiddie, I followed the directions. Unfortunately, my phone kept failing the driver test. I double checked that I was in USB debugging mode and figured it was a driver issue since mine didn't have the same name as those in Wug's guide. After learning how to keep the wrong drivers from autoinstalling and then installing the correctly-named versions, I gave it another shot, without success. Then I tried almost every method in the Root Guide, but without the ADB driver working right, it was futile.
Thus, I gave up. At least until all the freaking ads drove me up the wall.
With heavy heart, I tried Wug's Toolkit again, but this time I happened to be looking at my N4's screen when I performed the driver test:
"Computer X is requesting access
