A Personal Question, Droidbots

15 y.o h.s student 
Am I the youngest? haha. Been using computers since I could walk. (not really lol) My first exposure to computers was playing flash web games on my dad's work computer when he would take me in. I was about 4 or 5 then. Haven't decided what I wanna do for life yet but I have plenty of ideas. 
I'm very tech smart, although I've attempted (MANY) times to learn a programming language and haven't succeeded from the countless books I've read. 
Anyways, I usually visit this forum just to see what's new in android, any new apps. I should be aware of, tips, etc. 
On winter break so I come on when there's nothing else to do.

I'm rarely on this forum, but did so to research about the phone that I purchased, and have to pay for monthly.
19, Full time college student with a part time job. I'm pretty good at budgeting, and, therefore can pay for my bills.
It's winter break, and I am bored today, otherwise i'm rarely on this.

30, HS teacher/site computer tech, on Christmas break and procrastinating on the work I brought home that I really really need to do.
I don't browse the forums at work because there's just not the time, but when I'm home, I pop in and lurk. I lurked/posted more when I first got my phone, but I've backed off some, I guess. Back to spending more time on TotalFark.com.
What do you teach? I want to become a teacher, and I am really thinking about changing my major.

Im 26 and a union laborer. I work for a company called Stacy and Witbeck. We are putting in the whole light rail system for utah and more. I think in the last few years most carriers have made it easier for the "average worker" to acquire a smart phone.... i mean hell... im on tmobile and its only 180 a month for tw0 mytouch phones with unlimited everything.
42 year old female. Middle school teacher. Had to have the Droid, looked so cool, and didn't disappoint. Now my students think I'm pretty cool too I've checked forum posts a lot while on Christmas break. This is a great place to learn things. Lots of great ideas. I'm sure my phone is very basic still, but I'm working on that.

I'm a 46 year old wife and mother (3 year old son). I'm an accountant by day and a passionate hobby photographer.
Pretty much just a gadget-ho, loving my new phone.
My degree and credential are for English, but I work at an independent study charter school primarily for at-risk students. We meet with students one-on-one for an hour each week and review their assignments, then assign them new work. There's a lot of misunderstandings about independent study and how it's just a credit mill, but trust me, we're far from that. I love my job and we do an awesome thing for our students (we provide wrap-around services for students, not just classes, so they can get their basic needs met so that they can concentrate on school.)
It doesn't pay for crap, but it's a lot of fun and I love knowing I'm working with the most difficult students (the ones most teachers really don't want in their classrooms) and making a difference in their lives.

I have pics in a couple of places; mostly flickr. I'm hoping to be more selective on a photoblog but I just don't seem to have the time - probably has something to do with my 3 year old. lol

I taught 9th remedial, college-prep, and pre-AP, as well as 11th remedial, for 6 years at my old school (I also taught AVID and ran our AVID program, was our activities director for two years, and taught a literature and film elective that was my favorite class ever.) I miss being in the classroom sometimes, but I teach independent study now, and I really enjoy it a lot.

Kari, I teach 9th grade ELA in Arkansas to the gen-ed classes as well as the inclusion (IEP) class; I also do a class at the ALE with students who range in age from 9th to 12th grade. In terms of the theatre and debate, it runs the gamut.
I teach through the TFA program, so it's been a wild ride thus far. My students' average reading level is around a 5th grader's. Heh. How do you enjoy teaching?

Hey, if you ever want any curriculum, I developed a TON, especially for freshmen (since freshmen was the only grade I taught for four of my six years in the classroom) and I'd be happy to email stuff to you. I always liked getting other teachers' stuff to pick through and use, so I'm always happy to share, and I always had other teachers using my stuff with their classes, so I know it's not half bad.
What year in TFA are you? I absolutely love teaching, but I'm really glad I'm out of the classroom. I was at a school in a rural, low-income, high immigrant population town, and in addition to the other stuff I listed above, I also coached track, was a class advisor, a union rep, and all sorts of other crazy stuff. I was generally at work 60-70 hours/week, and then I'd take stuff home and work at night. I burned myself out bigtime... although, really, a lot of what burned me out was that the school I was at sucked with regards to stupid politics and ingrained tradition, and heaven forbid anyone wanted to change the status quo. (We actually lost our accreditation one year, largely due to our crappy performance and overall bad attitude as a staff.) I loved my students and I had some great coworkers, but overall it was not a good place for me to be.
So now I'm at a school where I have great bosses, great coworkers, and there's an attitude of respect and professionalism that was mostly nowhere to be found at my old school. I get paid a hell of a lot less, but I'm also not killing myself with work and fighting the same stupid political issues over and over again. It's sooooo worth the pay cut--lemme tell ya. I love knowing that there are schools out there like mine that can take the most difficult kids, the ones that no sane teacher wants in their class, and get them on-track academically.
Anyway, I think we've co-opted this thread quite enough for one night--sorry, everyone! ;-)
