A Proper Camera Button?

I've had my HTC Desire HD phone now for just over a week, and being the first 'touch-screen' phone I've had, it's taking a bit of getting used to. Especially my big fingers when typing on the on-screen keyboard. (always making mistakes).

Anyway. One thing that would of been nice would be to have an 'actual' button for picture taking, instead of using the awkward on-screen button! Lost count how many times I went to take a pic of my dog and I didn't quite touch it right and brought up the menu instead!! So of course, I miss the opportunity of a good pic! Really annoying. I also want to be able to take a pic of me next to him, by me holding and pointing the phone back at myself then pressing a button. But there's no chance I can do that because it's 'on-screen'!

Is there another camera App that maybe uses the volume buttons for the camera button? That would be spot on.

I've took some awesome pics with this phone, so I don't want to have to go back to my digital camera for pics when I shouldn't need to!

There are definitely ones out there with the option. The stock android one certainly does, but I'm sure there are market ones too.

I got Camera Advance after reading this thread..... volume button is now set to take my photos and it will make life SO much easier!!

There is a free version (Camera Advance Lite) of it if you want to test it out first, but you need the full version to be able to take photos at 8MP

Just been reading some of the feedback on that App mate. A lot of them complain about it freezing up etc. Have you found this problem?

Not yet no... try out the free version of it for a bit and see how it goes on your phone? I only got it because it's the only one that has the option to set the volume button to take the photo that I can find, but so far I have tested it in every mode at every resolution without a problem (other than being low on memory on my SD)

No worries :)

I'll keep looking for others that do the same, with more features (I love features) and post back here any that I find if I think they're better :)

Good stuff!
I've just gone and purchased that App now. lol.
Works perfectly. Really, really appreciate this. It's going to make things a lot easier in future. Well chuffed.

Oh yes, more features more fun! ;)

As I said... not a problem. You actually helped me out because I was using my phone as a camera at a car show at a track near me and couldn't hit the screen quick enough... it'll be eaiser next time I leave the other camera at home ;)

Here's the kinda photo's I took (yea I really did do that ;))
