Help A question about Nexus

Hey guys.

I'm thinking about getting a new Nexus 7, which would be my first android device (and also my first tablet). The reason why I'm posting here is because I would like to be able to update the OS as soon as there is an update, so my question is. Have you been able to update your Galaxy Nexus to JB? Is it true that if I have a Nexus device, I'll be able to update the OS as soon as there is an update in the OS?

That's all, thanks!

if it's a GSM/International (you bought from the play store) it will.. if it's a carrier phone (sprint/verizon) you'll have to wait while the carrier pushes out the update

With the Nexus 7 it will always be among the first devices to get new updates to Android, along with the other Nexus devices.

I have Jellybean on my Galaxy Nexus, I got the OTA upgrade a couple of days ago. In the case of the Nexus, as mentioned, the "Google" unlocked version of the Nexus is getting the OTA update now.

Those who bought a locked version of the Nexus, through their provider, are not yet getting updates but Google has stated they will be among the first to get it. The issue is that the cell phone provider tweaks the software for how they have customized the phone, so it takes a little longer.

In the case of the Nexus 7, since it has no cell antenna, they should all be "vanilla" devices that will get OTA updates when Google releases new versions.
