Why does the Android OS load apps that you don't need and don't want running? I've had my Ascend since January and I just don't understand this.

It's the way android is designed, it keeps apps cached in the background for quick loading (they aren't actually running). It's more efficient.
cause you have google backup my current settings check in the privacy setting in the phone.
Even applications that I didn't choose to run?
What would backup have to do with the OS running Pandora, Gmail, etc. without me initiating it?
You can uninstall both of those if you like.
You missed my point. I like the apps, I just don't want the OS running them willy nilly.
They aren't running, they are cached in memory, don't worry about them.
