Hello,

I will be getting my own desire soon, but I had a small question.
Since I will get mobile internet with it (And since 3G is available almost everywhere I go), but this internet is not really unlimited.

Anyway, when I'm connected to both 3G and a wi-fi hotspot, how do I know what the browser will use?
 
The phone knows that wi-fi is better, so, if wi-fi is available he allways choose that.

If you're connected to WiFi then it will allways use that by default for data.

I recommend downloading a little app called 3G watchdog. It's invaluablr for monitoring mobile data use.
 
If he as wi-fi available the phone allways choose the wi-fi ti connect, 3G Watchdog is to control de amount of data used, if you have a data plan, like me for exemple.
 
I use 3G wachdog and I'm on 12% of my 1Gb per month limit (with only 2 days before I reset it).

Now to be fair I don't get 3G where I live or work, if I did I might make more use of data but I can see that I'll be hard pushed to ever worry about hitting my limit.

What carrier are you on?

Different carriers mean different things when they say unlimited, ranging from 500MB/month to 3GB/month.

KPN, a dutch one.
They use the FUP, so the limit is:
"The average of all people with the same contract * 10" (Gets re-calculated every month)

Example: If the average is 400MB, my limit is 4000MB = 4GB
 
Have you asked your network/carrier what would happen if you went over your allownace eg would you get charged, my carrier(orange) will let me know if i have gone over(and restrict me) the allowance and not charge me whereas other networks could charge, just a thought but if you have 4gb allowance then i think you would be fine, download 3g watchdog and you can track of it
 
If I go over my limit, I will get a text message saying my download speed will be decreased untill the next month. So it ain't that bad. The only problem is that we don't know the limit.
 
Sorry for the double post, but I didn't think it was neccessary to open up another thread for a small question which hardly has anything todo with the phone.

Does anyone know where you can get the live wallpaper from the HTC Desire for your PC? :)

only way to find out the limit is to ask your network/carrier i guess
