Its been a while since I rooted my Desire and installed leeDroid v2.3d with app2sd+.

I was wondering if there is any update to this sense ROM and whether I should install a new ROM - even gingerbread?

I had a look on the leeDroid website but couldnt make much sense of it - there seems to be a version 3 out.

Should I download and try: LeeDrOiD_V3.0.8.2_GB_A2SD.zip

What can I expect to be different?

I think this is the xda thread?
[ROM]LeeDrOiD V3.0.8.2 GB 28th Jun | Android 2.3.3 | OTA | A2SD or Data++ | TV Anim - xda-developers

I have just made a nandroid backup :)

Yeah I know but I see there is also A froyo 2.5 leeDroid update. Should I just go straight for the Gingerbread one?

I would.

2.5 is the final LeeDroid Froyo release, so there'll be no further development of it and it probably won't be very different from what you have.

2.5 is just a fairly small update from where you are now. I'm still using it though, waiting for the 'proper' release of LeeDroid 3 - based on a WWE rom which I hope will come with a newer version of Sense.

There's a lot more missing from the v3 rom (compared to 2.5) than you will gain from it being GB based although it is catching up.

Have I messed this up? My home screen doesn't look like different. It doesn't have the new launcher with the icons at the bottom.any ideas why?

Because LeeDroid 3 is GingerBread plus Sense 1.0. Hence you are still using the same Sense launcher, and so it looks the same. Go into menu->about phone and check what ROM and android version you are using.

The article you link has images of the Nexus S - if that look is what you were after, you want a non-Sense Gingerbread ROM.
