A Sad Day Has Come

Agreed. Not saying that bad things don't happen and being in the middle of inner beltline Raleigh helps.

But over time, benefits of always turning off just didn't help enough to justify for me. But I also have a spare battery on me at all times so really isn't an issue.

Everyone's mileage may vary so everyone should experiment. But I think some folks are hoping for too big of a differerence with turning off.

It doesn't improve signal strength when I'm not on the phone, but as soon as I have to make a phone call, it's a world of difference.
As you mentioned when you are not on the phone the signal is as it's supposed to be 0-1 bar. Does Airrave kicks in when someone is trying to reach you or when you SMS? I saw that it doesn't do data at all. So it doesn't help the battery really when the phone is in idle mode right?

i live in SC and whoever said the sprint no service problaby the same with Verizon was true ...im getting my airwave anyday, im giving it a fair try but everytime im on my house or close to it ...i have one bar and if i hold the phone it drops the call. I need to call put it on speaker and dont touch the phone.

If im in my area my signal is not the greatest , but hey thats what 30day trial is for right???

people on this board are a bit fanatical!! the slightest sign of well its not working for me even if they praise the phone, instantly turns into a F@CK YOU

Chill down the phone is problaby the best phone out right now but if anyone dosnt have good coverage with their provider in their area...well after all is a Phone ...TO MAKE PHONE CALLS

im not a fanboy of anyone ....you give me the best device with the best coverage and im game ....i can handle the second best device, but i need coverage to make calls, its what i "NEED" the phone for

No offence, and I am not trying to be nasty but can you not read??

No one got mad because of a criticism of the phone and I almost find it offensive you would even post that. Everyone got a Tad nasty when OP proved he wasn't interested in being helped. He ignored every poster that tried to help him but DID take time to defend his purchase choice. THAT, and only that is the reason people got upset.

I think you owe some folks some apologies now.

i do apologize if it came off the wrong way thou, i merely ment that if you say you love it and you love sprint everyone is cool but if you say anything about any phone or carrier, the people that are happy with the carrier will jump you! not just here on the Evo but in the Board in general and not everything will work for everybody.

i came from ATT and the Iphone ...it ruled in Rock hill and Charlotte NC but its pointless if i come off it!

the Evo is a far pretier and phone wise i LOVE it and im doing my best to make this work, called yesterday and updated everything with sprint. airave is on the way.

But my 3g is insanely slow at work and in Rock hill if i enter any building either no signal or drop calls!so i see where he is comming from.

It will be on my best interest to keep the phone and Sprint and make it work since ill save $50 a month and now that i have a newborn i could use the extra money on him

Once again i do apologize if i offended you or anyone else in here not my intent at all. Im sorry

Sounds like you made up your mind and no matter what someone tells you here, you're not going to listen. Airrave would be your solution, yet you did not respond to that reply.

Cya later. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

 Instead of a "Thanks" button, there should be a @$$h0l3 button. I'm just saying. Some things are just left untyped bro. Think before you type. Ridiculous.

Absolutely. I agree I think many people look for one big change that makes a killer difference in regards to battery life. A few small things here and there can add up and make a difference, but it's not going to double battery life that's for sure. Not unless you had some runaway app constantly running in the background in the first place, and you just killed it. I think too many people look for that magic bullet when it doesn't exist.

Shorter battery life is just a fact of life when you ask what's being asked of a phone like the Evo or similar phones. Many people have problems seeing this. A spare or bigger battery is definitely a nice thing to have. I do get a little worried about that battery door though, which is why I generally just keep a spare cable and top it off while at my desk if needed.

There should also be a "Have a good cry" button. Just sayin', bro.

I live in NYC and have only experienced great coverage, they've even been quietly rolling out 4G here (which is shoddy at best). I'm very curious as to what part of the city you live in that you have such poor signal quality because I've not come across a dead zone yet.

i also live in nyc and always get great signal unless im underground, of course. i am also curious as to what neighborhood you live in. im in greenwich village, 10011. i was at my friends apt last week in the 90s and lex and got full bars on 4g!
