Root A slow descent to crap.

go into the droid x overclock app. Click on the little arrow on the side and get it to expand your current slots. Post each slot with the frequency and vsels. I think your vsels are too low. I had a lot of those same problems on apex 1.4. I took off all my undervolting and started fresh.

I haven't re-overclocked since I reinstalled Apex due to the huge scrutiny over the subject. I'm starting to gather that OC is solid within a certain range. Should I re do it and post?

If its doing that on a clean install with no oc, that's not good. Though I did hear bo say apex was to lagy for him. I'm wondering the same thing, if its a phone issue.

Everyone hates task managers, but I run a task killer that has awidget, it is set to never run. This way when my phone lags I hit the widget and it kills a bunch of stuff when I chose.

Also your supposed to reboot your phone, like a computer, every now and then. I do mine about every 24 hrs. Which may be a bit much.

Zip aligning optimizing may help a little but doubt help a lot. You'd have to do that to the rom or theme before install, though I think liberty had that option.

Id install fission, advanced task killer and use the widget when it lags up.
also reboot it every day or two. Most roms have the bloatware for the most part already removed.

If you have a ton of apps, its possible that getting rid of ones you don't use may help a bit.

Let's install WatchDog. If something's using a bunch of cpu, it should flag it. You'll have to open it after installing to set it up.

Otherwise, what are the symptoms of a bad sd card?

I definitely reboot at least every two days. I'll run watchdog and use a task killer on the rare. I have hardly any apps since the clean install as well. Should I wait on the OC? Also link for fission? Might it be on XDA?

It may just be apex. My phone didn't agree with it either. All previous releases ran great but this latest one had a lot of freezes and reboots. I had thought it was my undervolting but maybe its just a reaction some phones have to it. Keep us informed, your phone will be in tip top shape soon.

do you have a task killer on the phone???
if so uninstall it
there are several articles about why a task killer is bad, im at my office so searching through forums for that is not something i can do as of yet lol
but i hope we can get your problem situated.

Just woke up, it's been on locked up solid for about a minute, unable to unlock it. Any other rom suggestions?

For the task killer, I haven't used one with either previous roms I ran. I have it as a last resort to the phone running poorly.. like right now.

the task killer is not a good thinig to have, ok so you have tried liberty, and apex, im curious if you sbf back to stock, then try those same roms, would it be different

also when your phone was stock, did it run very smooth??

No, it ran much worse stock, that's why I rooted. If I have have any more problems I'll be grabbing an iphone.. This isn't worth the stress.

well to what you choose is your choice, but we are here to help you, if it ran worse stock sounds like you just got a bad phone 1 out of 100 will be this way im sure, just sbf back to stock, set everything back up the way you want, take the phone back and tell them, that its running horrible, though it needs to be doing it when you take it in, unless you go to the store alot to talk to friends (i do) so they dont ask questions if i say its not running the way it should they will help me out. thats what you need to do now, if you get a new one you will be surprised how much smoother and freeze free it is. now the only thing the X currently still suffers from is the reboots, but thats not a big deal mine hasnt rebooted since i had installed apex 1.4 so good luck, but if you choose an iphone, well i hope you will be happy, though you do have a community here who will help you with what we can ^_^

Task killer doesnt hurt if its not set to run.
Mine frees up lag on my phone when I tell it to run.
True story.

i dont run one, cause i had auto killer which is no longer on my phone for some strange reason... so im going to reinstall it soon, and i have it set on Moderate so it clears up my lag for me alot better.

but i think he just got a bad phone, and should return it for another one, but thats just me, i havent seen an X that ran like crap stock and rom'd
so i dont know what can be the issue for him is, unless he downloaded a malicious file...

I'm guessing you have a bad phone, bad sd card or bad app.

Do you have anything on the card that needs saving (backups, roms, pics)?

well you dont know if the backed up apps are corrupted, or the nandroids may be infected, thats why i say back the pics up put them on a computer and scan them, course you can do the same with the other apps and stuff

My thought was: If formatting the card doesn't help, it'd be nice to recover what you can.

Still you make a good point too.

Completely reformatted the card when I did my current rom Apex 1.4. I'll be trying Fission at some point tomorrow although It hasn't been too bad today.
