Help A way to communicate

My girlfriend just got the Lg Optimus S, and as you guys might've guessed, I have the Optimus V. Problem is that she's currently in Michigan and it costs her like 10c a minute to talk on the phone with someone in a different state. I'd like to know if there was a way (an app or something) for us to talk without cost. Thank You.

Skype as long as you both have it you can Skype to Skype at no charge.

Google voice will still cost minutes unless you use something like groove IP to use voip instead.

You can also call any us number using Skype for $2.99/month for unlimited. I do this all this time since I have poor cell reception at my home (AND I'm on a 300-minute plan). You can even set it up so that when you call using skype it shows your cell number on the caller id.

I'm surprised that any cell carrier charges extra for long-distance calling any more.

My wife and I use tikl, its voip walkie talkie style. My optimus v and her intercept run it fine.

Tikl is a good app to use. It's like a walkie talkie.

I've been trying Tikl but even though we seem to connect my wife and son can't here me. I can here them sometimes.
