A whole battery of problems and questions. (pun intended)

Its ok dont worry. Do you have CheckFus?

If not, then go to the link and download it. Once it is done downloading, run the file. It is a very easy to use program, just make sure you select the right settings...Android, then your model of phone, and your region. When you are selecting region, I suggest you go with your carrier branded firmware to start. Then hit check firmware.

What CheckFus does for you, is it downloads you the most current firmware for your phone. It will be ICS file, and that's ok.

Like I said before what I did was somewhat of overkill. You moved the data you wanted to save and you formatted you usb storage right? If so then when we flash the stock ICS firmware that CheckFus downloads for you, you should be fine.

Once you get the firmware download, just flash it through Odin. Since you were rooted before I am assuming you know how to do that. Then to root, its the same as before, use ironass dummies guide. Find the CF kernel that matches your new ICS kernel, flash it, and then you can do whatever you want .

Did you make sure everything you selected is right? Also did you hit "check firmware"?

Can you post a screen shot or give me your info and I can see what it does when I input those settings?

Eh there is no check firmware button?

I can check for presets, find my setting based on model and carrier and then just hit OK

"Product - GT-I9100LKAMET"

Is that what it says under the battery? Also I would still need a country and a cellular carrier......

That's exactly what I got from Check fus.

I'm Ireland and with Meteor and originally it was KE2 before I ever changed anything to the best of my knowledge.

Try this link for the checkfus download. I know it is a good link because its what I used to check your info.

When I try it here i input

Android
I9100
Ireland/Meteor

Here was the result

Product Code: GT-I9100LKAMET
Latest firmware: I9100XWLP7/I9100METLP4/I9100XXLPS/I9100XWLP7
Modified: 4/23/2012 7:44:53 PM
Filename: GT-I9100_MET_1_20120423194440_n6jpj957md.zip.enc2

With a download link below it.

But remove your battery cover and check to make sure what the exact model of your phone is. But this was the result I got....

Can't get the file to execute man. Head in my hands with despair. There is something else going on here and I don't know.

The phone thinks the usb is connected when it's not, thinks it's charging when it's not.

You can't get the Checkfus file to run, or you can't get it to start downloading from within Checkfus?

I'm trying to do what I can......sorry its not more. Is the phone still under warrenty? You could always bring it in and have them take a look at it.......and pray they don't notice its rooted.

Now I can't even switch it off fully. Second I replace battery after taking it out, the phone automatically swtiches on....what the hell

I think if I rooted the phone again it would be the best idea.
wlp7 is the current firmare from my network accoring to check fus yes?

That's what it said......I have a picture posted, make sure all the inputted information is correct to your device.

Yeah so I didn't get quite the same results as you did in your picture though I entered the same information. The phone is definitely a gt-i9100 and I'm definitely meteor. Should I go ahead and root with Odin using the file I've downloaded? There was an official ICS update out so I figure I'll just use KIES to upgrade and then worry about flashing checkrom v7 at another time.

Here is another link, SamMobile, to the latest Meteor, XWLP7, firmware. Takes a little longer to download... about 2 pints of Guinness, long. :D

Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: I9100XWLP7_I9100METLP4_MET.zip

So what I downloaded with check fus is no good? I'll download this hotfile link also. thank you for it

Is there a reason to use one over the other when I'm upgrading to ICS from KIES straight after anyway?

edit- after using check fus to download the program I put it through decrypt on the advanced tab and ended up with JVH_JV1_JVO.tar which seems weird.
