A year and four months

Just stopped to think that with Verizon's new 2GB/mo basic tiered pricing, it would take a minimum of 16 months to download enough video or audio to fill the Charge's included 32GB microSD card. Not sure how useful that factoid is though.

If you've had an unlimited plan with your Charge since June, then you're grandfathered in with unlimited now at the same $30. If Verizon offers unlimited for new customers in the future, it sure won't be cheap!

If you've had the unlimited since June do you have unlimited data indefinitely or just until your 2 year contract ends?

Good question. All they've promised is that as of now if you renew an unlimited plan you'll still be unlimited.

It's always possible they'll change renewal or new sign-up terms in the future, which might even include eliminating unlimited entirely (if they think they can get away with it in the market), but I don't think any change of terms could affect a customer until their current contract runs out.

So enjoy it while you have it, but no guarantees.

I like Verizons network but there is no way i would ever pay the current rates they have up now. Time will tell if they choose to null the grandfather clause in the years to come.

Either way i think there will always be at least once company that will offer unlimited (to hold an edge) when others do not. Be it Sprint, T Mobile, U.S. Cellular or even Cricket I am pretty sure one of those will always have it.

The day Verizon nulls the grandfathering is the day i jump ship. I just can't justify spending 50 dollars a month for my cell phone inet when it's more expensive than my home inet (and i use my computer more).

Traditionally they seem to leave you alone and let you keep your plan as-is so long as you don't let it drop. But, as others have said... we'll see.

I'm on track to use < 2 GB for this month, which is surprising as my phone was new and I'm probably using it more than I will in the future most months.

I'm only a couple hundred MB the last few months, but I've mostly been near WiFi. Otherwise Slacker can eat through a good chunk of 2GB in a month.

I average 5 gig a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It's typically Pandora Streaming all day mixed with some Dish/slingbox and netflix. When I'm out on business trips, it's significantly more. :S

...or less than half an hour to just hook your phone up to your laptop and fill the 32GB card.

Unless you absolutely, positively need Verizon's expanded coverage, you should really go to AT&T. You can get the Atrix for a penny and the data plan is $5 per month less.
