Root A2SD space too low

Hi guys, looking for some help.

Rooted my phone last year to get rid of the Orange bloatware and everything has been fine. Been using various roms (DeFrost, GingerVillan and now InsertCoin nightly Sense rom).

Not sure what I've done but for some reason the space on my A2SD partition is now almost full (I have about 35mb left out of 512mb). I only have about 24 apps installed, nowhere near the amount to use up all that space.

Titanium Backup shows the following:
System ROM: 262mb (6.83mb free)
Internal: 154mb (78.7mb free)
SD card: 15.5gb (2.29gb free)
SD card (a2sd): 479mb (26.3mb free)

I've done a full wipe (including the Dalvik cache when I've installed the InsertCoin roms).

If you need any more info or if I've missed anything off, let me know.

Cheers

Insert coin Roms put part of the Rom on the partition. To sort this out, nandroid backup, backup sd to pc, re partition with gparted to 1gb or a bit more the nandroid restore

Thanks for the help - sorry I'm only just replying, been in a meeting all day.

Excuse what you will probably think is a stupid question, I

Rom manager, no way use recovery - from off, hold vol down plus power, Then navigate to "recovery" using teh volume button and press power to select.

Gparted, See this from the memory / a2sd faq:

1) Backup your SD card contents to your PC
2) Download GParted Live cd, burn to CD and boot to it GParted -- Live CD/USB/PXE/HD
3) Connect your device in Recovery mode and mount as USB mass storage
4) Resize the existing FAT32 partition from the back, leaving space after it and create an EXT partition in the space. Steps for the GUI are below.

  • In the drop down menu (top right) select the SD card (be careful not to select your HDD)
  • Right click on the FAT32 Partition and select resize
  • Press the Up arrow on "Free Space Following" until you have the desired sizes
  • Click Resize
  • right click in unallocated space and select New> EXT format of your choice
  • Click Apply

Thanks, we like to be kept in the loop :)

I eventually got around to sorting out my phone using the GParted method outlined above. I followed the instructions but soon realised that instead of creating a new partition, I had to increase the space of my A2SD partition. I think I was intitially thrown by the unfamilar user interface! ;)

I eventually worked it out and everything is good - no more memory problems!

Many thanks for your help SUroot! :)
