Root A2sd+

hi

just rooted my DHD and want to experiment with ROMS. ive come from the desire where i was using redux, which seemed about right for me but unfortunately theres no redux for DHD. so....before i start experimenting, i looked at the leedroid rom, which mentioned A2SD+. im assuming this sticks all downloaded apps straight to SD rather than internal yep?

the confusing thing is this EXT3 and 4. i sort of understand its a hidden partition, but leedroid mentions its better on EXT4 i think (ive read so many threads and links i cant find it now) but mentions A2SD+ will go to EXT3 and to partition my SD card. i did this a long time ago on my desire using a gparted cd, but it says clockworkmod can take care of proceedings, so ive been into recovery/advanced and partitioned it. leedroid mentioned 512Mb being about right, so i chose that, then chose 0Mb for a swap or something. this was because i seemed to remember reading that figure on one of the many threads.

so...... have i done right? am ready for leedroid now, or do i need an EXT4? just a bit confused about my SD card now and what partitions are on it. (are there such things as EXT 1 and EXT2)

oh, and are there any more roms than the few ive found? i could only locate about 5 from following threads, is this about right? just that there seemed to be loads to choose from with the desire. i tried CM7 with that phone but it was just a bit too 'basic' for me. whereas the stock roms are too slow and 'bloaty'. redux seemed a nice compromise and good battery lifes a must too.

thanks for any help.

EDIT: found a few more roms, but are there any sites with screenshots of the different roms and feedback on them so i know which are going to be real stripped down, and which will be too much like stock? thanks.

Take a look here for a list of most of the ROMs available: Desire HD Android Development - xda-developers. I used CM7 for ages, but switched to RCMix at the weekend and liking it so far.

I'll be honest and say I'm not overly au faix with apps2sd, sorry. The internal memory on the DHD is big enough that I've never really needed it (I've had he phone for over a year). I gather memory on the original Desire was an issue so apps2sd was a must?

LeeDroid runs better on EXT4, but that refers to the phones internal partitions, not the SD Card. As part of the ROM install process, it wipes and formats the system, and boot partitions to EXT4 and there's a separate zip you flash which does the same for the cache partition.

Sorry if the above seems vague, but it's been ages since I had LeeDroid installed :o

i flashed to Leedroid last week, and just dropped te zip file on my sd card and ran it... ( AFTER BACKUP )

I havent done any of the partitioning malarky, and my phone runs fine...

faster than lightening:cool:

Although El Pres as told be RCmix is fast fast fast... so i may try that tonight...

I recommend trying BlackICE of you're experimenting, its the best rom I've used now, its like CM7 but with lots of stuff added. The battery life is fantastic
