Help a500 ports issue

I've had my Acer for nearly 2 weeks now and all in all its been OK but one thing that's really getting to me is the headphone port. If I've had my external speakers plugged in for a few songs and then unplug them, the device still says they are plugged in and won't make any noise until I've plugged them in and out a few times? Then to add to my troubles I just unpluuged the charger and that did a similar thing by not reconpgnising that it had been unplugged and just registered 0% battery? Anyone else had this issue?

I have only used headphones on my A500 twice so far and both times the headphone indicator disappeared as soon as I unplugged the headphones.

Since the headphone jack must be indicating to Honeycomb that the headphones are plugged in perhaps it is just a bit of dirt/gunk in your headphone jack. You might try twisting the connector plug around while it is inserted and inserting and removing it quickly a few times to see if it clears up.
