Apologies in advance, this is a possibly a sit down with a drink thread pleading for help!!

My S2 keeps rebooting every few minutes - it turns on then reboots when I go into app drawer or try selecting an app.

This morning I did a factory wipe (as couldnt find any other way to get rid of a checkRom theme) and is when it all started....

Used Titanium to restore apps and data - progress bar didnt move and appeared to crash so came out and did apps & data seperately. Then followed instructions on thread to re install checkRom Revo HD 4 (wipe, cache, data, etc in cwm again) then the phone constantly rebooting for hours - getting to the blue 'S' screen then on a loop.
Eventually did a restore through cwm recovery and phone is as it is now - restarting every so often. It is really sluggish as well.

Any ideas to get it back to brill again? I want to re install XXKPA, checkRom, Siyah 2.6.7 and get it 'ICS'd' up. Does it matter which order I install these? Would that have caused problem to start with??

Sorry and Thanks for your help

I use, "Theme Restore Package", from the Kitchen for that.

Have you tried booting into CWM Recovery and doing a, "Wipe Dalvik Cache", to see if that helps?

Do u mean the kitchen app u get with checkRom? If so i haven't re installed yet - bit dubious incase i goes like it did.

I did do wipe davlik as part of instructions when was going to re install checkRom - maybe coincidence but it was about then it really went wrong!!

Does it matter which order I install Siyah, XXKPA and checkRom??

thanks for ur help

I did also try "theme restore package" (know exactly what u mean now) last night but when downloading/install came up with error code & couldn't continue install??

The problem with the instal from the kitchen app was probably due to a bug in the siyah kernel/ kitchen app. For some reason if you press the instal button after things have downloaded they don't instal properly. So after its downloaded press cancel and then boot into recovery mode and instal it manually.

Personally if I was having the same problems as you I would start from scratch.
So the first thing to do is to flash some stock firmware from here
[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2 Download - xda-developers
Any of them will do as you well be replacing it with checkrom anyway but I guess go for one of the 2.3.6 as its the same as checkrom. Then do a full wipe of your phone.

Then you will need to root again (using the same kernel as your firmware) from here
[14.01.2012][CF-Root 5.2] K/EFGHIJKL*, KP1/2/4/8/A, LA2, LP1/2 -su+bb+CWM4/5 - xda-developers

Now flash checkrom again, wipe everything again

Now flash siyah and the modem, either way rounds good.

One other thing. When restoring with titanium it might be worth only restoring apps and data and not system data. It could be possible that there's something in system data which doesn't like the new firmware.

Forgive my ignorance but when u say full wipe do u mean data, davlik cache, partition, etc or factory wipe??

Does titanium system data not include some of my settings, wi-fi, etc??

Cheers

I did mean cache, dalvik and clear data but its been a long time since I've used the stock recovery system so I'm not sure if all those options will be there. If they aren't do the next step (root again) first and then clear them.

Yes system data does contain all your settings which is why it can be problematic going between firmwares. It won't always but say if you go from .5 to .6 some things you are restoring may not be relevant anymore.

And don't worry your not being ignorant. You're here to learn, just like I was when I first posted here. If you don't ask you'll never know.

Thanks for your help Shotgun - I have noticed that when I disconnect phone from laptop (using disconnect storage screen option on S2) the phone does a complete reboot  Just once, then its fine.

Any ideas??
