Ability to record on GNex & notepad?

Have been searching for a notepad type option on the phone - would appear not have one. Is it there & I am just looking in the right area?

Also want to be able to record & then playback or transfer sound file. Like record bird calls while out & then be able to transfer . Looked for that as well & not found either.

I assumed that that these would be standard options on a phone like this or do I have to download?

There are no built in sound recorders or notepads. The market is full of sound recorders and notepads. I'm sure people will chime in with suggestions, or go to the applications section of the forum and search for notepad and recorder.

Android is all about choice. The fewer apps included in the stock system, the better. I would much rather choose my own notepad or voice recorder from the market than have a standard one that I may not like or use that I cannot remove. There are free and paid options available.

I can't suggest any for you because I have not installed either of these apps. They are not things I would use on my phone.

Thanks to you both! Am figuring out that this a phone with much choice & flexibility! I did some research & found some good (?!) apps that fit the bill.
