Root About to get replacement phone: nandroid backup?

I saw some similar threads in other phone forums (eris, EVO) but I'm wondering if anyone has had luck with this on the Dinc.

Verizon is shipping me what I assume is a refurbed phone. If I turn it on, root it, and throw in my old SD card, will there be any trouble doing a typical nandroid restore?

i saw written previous issues of the title of the nandroid folder name (something about the correct phone serial number?)

if anybody has done this, any/all advice is appreciated. thanks!

edit: alternative could be titanium backup, but i don't know if one's preferable to the other.

for me, it worked. i brick my old Inc and got a replacement over night. rooted and did a nandroid restore with my old files.

great! thanks zeke. you didn't have to do anything tricky? just root and nandroid restore? sweet. now getting a phone replaced doesn't sound so bad.
