Help About to order one...

I am about to order one Nexus but I've read the topic of the battery issue and I would like to ask you one thing.

I have the top 3: Galaxy S2, Motorola Razr and the Nexus. Somehow I would like to go for the Nexus because it's cheaper compared to the other two and somehow I really liked when I played a bit with the phone.

Battery wise, what would be the average time until recharge for extremely normal use (phone calls and some internet)?

Please I need some help since I don't want to miss the deal :D

By the way, I am coming from a Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I've always managed to get at least 2 days before charging it, sometimes even 3.

Hope that you can help me out here...
 
YMMV. Some folks have lots of trouble, not making it through the day. Just search for it on this forum. I use it regularly for business, spending an hour or so on the phone every day. On the data side, I use Exchange email, calendar and contacts. Other than that, maybe read the news or browse for 30 minutes. My phone lasts until I get home for dinner, but I always plug it in then.

Don't really know what to say, my Galaxy S i9000 seems to have a better battery :)
Of course the Nexus screen is bigger and better and the OS is new but still...not even 1 day...
I am only tempted about the price, otherwise I would have chosen a different model.

Apples and oranges. The battery in the Gnex is probably bigger but the dual core processor and screen is gonna eat you old Galaxy S up.

I love the phone, but after the EVO 4G I'm used to a battery requiring daily charging. If you must go days without a charger available, none of the latest generation of Android phones are likely to work for you.

I guess the step is forward so I have to get used to it...forget about the old Galaxy S.

What do you think about the Nexus compared to the S3? Will it still stand out?
 
I herd today that the Verizon version of the S3 is only going to be a dual core and not a quad core.

Some people can't go 4-6 hours without swapping the battery or charging. Some can go for 2 days.

Personally, I use the extended battery with Juice Defender Plus and get 10-12 hours with what I call moderate use. Long enough for me :)

Which battery did you buy? (Brand, from where?)
 
I have a VZW nexus, but I rooted it after seeing that I had to charge it during the day...about a Mindy after I got mine. As above, everyone's usage is different, but with the ROM and leankernal I am running, I get anywhere from 16 to 35 hours between charges....depends on how much wifi vs 4g I am using and how many games vs just checking my emails I am doing. I love the nexus...so all about personal preference and what works with your budget...and how much time you can spend learning the software!!

2 days with the normal battery? That sounds like me using a smartphone :D

Is the difference in looks big for the bigger battery?
 
I can typically get 2 hours of screen on time with my nexus before i need to throw it on a charger.

this weekend i unplugged my phone in the AM, i had 2.5 hours screen on time, some games, browsing, just messing around, no music streaming, maybe 30 texts, and maybe 15 minutes of calls and my phone lasted all day...it was at 18 hours. this was on stock battery and maybe 80/20 wifi/LTE.

check your screen on time with the galaxy S...in a single day, if you are under 2 hours, you should be OK.

but any new smartphone is going to chew through batteries like crazy...large screens, mulit-core processors, more features, and LTE. a full day should be about as much as you can get.

Luckily, the battery is removable, so you can always swap one in if need be....but it sounds like you are a pretty light user so you shouldn't need to do that.

as for the nexus vs S3....i was also disappointed with the S3. same screen technology and resolution, physical buttons are a step backwards, Touchwiz is just plain UGLY. just not impressed. going to be waiting for the next Gen phones to come out before i even consider jumping the Nexus ship.
i am talking about quad core, 2gb ram, 3000 mah batteryies, 12mp cameras, 1080P amoled+ screens, etc.
 
Extremely normal use -- makes it through the day no problem. Some phone calls, checking email, Twitter, etc.

If you're doing something with the screen on, touching (like playing a game or something), I swear I can see the needle move. The screen is a hog. I would be it's only about an hour or 2 of active screen use.
