AC power

Yeah, I'm pretty sure (yet, not 100%) that that doesn't really apply to the X. They point out in the second post in that thread that with the 2.2 update, there was (or maybe still is) some kind of issue that caused high-profile apps (I think Medion cites Google Nav specifically) to use more battery than the charge was compensating for-in essence, draining the battery even though it was plugged in.

Tonight, on my way back from a family outing, I was using my X as GPS while charging, and over the course of the 56-minute drive, the battery capacity went from 50% to 80%... so I'm pretty sure we don't suffer from the same issue.

And I should point out, for such a high-profile device, I get some pretty good battery life. I was out all day and it only reduced to 50%. And I was taking pictures and video, uploading pictures to FaceBook, texting and emailing almost all day...

I had an Inc. and what happens when the battery reaches 100% charge, it shuts off the charge and runs on battery power even though it's still plugged in. One of the things I disliked about the Inc.

it has the longest lasting battery of any android phone i've ever used, and i've owned more than 10 android phones. not only that, but it's also the fastest charging. i swear, it seems like it takes little more than an hour to charge from empty to full.

Wow - interesting thread. The DX is the first Android phone I've owned, and I just assumed all smartphones would run off the charger alone (if necessary). Seems like that would be a good idea, especially in case of an emergency/battery problems.

I'm sure HTC has its reasons for doing this [with the Dinc], but I'm still surprised to learn this...glad I have the X, and the battery life I'm seeing is outstanding to boot!

Nope. If you plug it in without the battery, you just get a picture of a battery and a question mark on the screen. It won't boot up.
