I've got my old Thunderbolt, completely dead digitizer but otherwise hobbling along. So I can't really do anything but plug it in to my computer and open it as a drive. Meanwhile I bought a new/used Thunderbolt, activated it, and moved my SIM and SD cards to it. I hadn't been particularly careful about installing apps on my SD card, backing up SMS with some app, or anything like that. I am getting a new digitizer for my old Thunderbolt next week, so presumably I'll be able to get back into that phone from the front end.
Meanwhile, I'd like to transfer anything I can to my new phone. But when I open a folder (in Win7) to the old phone-as-drive, there's almost nothing there, even though I've done this many times before. I've also replaced my digitizer and rebooted many times before, so I don't think any of that would have wiped my old phone. So first question: any ideas why I can't see more than two nearly-empty folders (drv and img) in Win7? It occurs to me now that maybe it doesn't grant access to the drive without getting past the screen lock, which I can't trigger with the bad digitizer?
And, if I get past that hurdle, is there any way to move my SMS messagees to my new phone? I figure it's the same phone, so they must be stored the same way, so there's some chance I can just find the files and move them, but until I can really run the old phone, I can't do much, including accessing the apps (like file manager).
