Help Accessing a document file on Note 2

I take a large number of meds and often have to refer to a list I have in pdf doc style when I am at doctors office.

I know that I can put the file on my external sd card and access it there using a file manager. But I would like something easier than going through the various steps using the file manager.

Can someone help me find an app or a way to put a short cut to the file on my home screen or app doc?

Long press on the screen.
Select shortcuts
Select your file manager (I use. ES file manager)
Select the file you want the link to
