Help Accidental volume changes

Hello people.
Have a Samsung Galaxy tab2 7 and I keep hitting the volume rocker on the side as I handle it. This is most annoying. I have tried about 6 apps from the Google store which offer to 'lock' the various volumes at settings I select, but for some reason none of them seems to work. Pressing the volume rocker disables the lock facility. Poor Ligularian doesn't understand. Can anyone offer a suggestion? Want notification volume set to about half and ALL media set to zero until I need it. Am prepared to root this gizmo if required.....if someone will tell me how!

Hello and welcome to the forums, ligularian.

We seldom move a thread out of the Introductions area, but you've identified your device and the issue for support straightaway, so here we are in the Galaxy Tab 2 7" sub-forum area for you. ;)

That volume button issue is sometimes resolved by finding the right case for the device (the Otterbox, etc), some of which still have the buttons exposed for use, but inset in the case just slightly enough to prevent the accidental pressing of them.

I have the same device, and no case. What I did was acclimate myself to handling the unit a bit differently than my instincts; I just found a way, so to speak (the cheapest, simplest remedy is sometimes the very best :D).
