Root Accidently deleted clocks widget :(

I think I finally perm rooted my phone. after I went ahead and used titanium backup to remove some of the apps and stuff. I accidently deleted the clocks widget thinking it was the clocks app in the applications.
Now I don't have my big flip clock on the home scene.

Anyway to get it back?
I turned my phone off and pulled the battery out, but it's still the same.

First thing after a root is a nandroid backup - did you make one?

Did you use Titanium to make a backup first, if you didn't do a nandroid?

Why were you trying to delete the clock app?

How are you deciding which apps to delete?

I've closed the 2 other threads you had open on how to get su permissions. It's difficult to help when you crosspost.

The first rule of rooting is to slow down and be patient.

If you want serious help, I recommend you take that advice.

What else have you done or deleted?

didn't use back up. I used titanium backup to temp delete the apps, cause when I was temprooted I did so and the apps would just come back if I restart my phone. This time they didn't. I just wanted to get rid of some apps. I thought the "clock app" was useless since I have the time on the home screen. So i accidently deleted the widget. I didn't know I shouldve backed up. But I really don't need anything I deleted. It would be nice to have the clock widget back though.

It's been like 4 days attempting root. The only other stuff I deleted was the stock sprint apps like nascar, tv, teeter, peep. Stuff like that. If there's no way to get it back, i'll live.

Nandroid or other backup?

And I'm glad your 4 days of rooting worked out - as of 10 hours ago, 2 of us were still trying to square away your su issue, so who knew you were rooted and no longer needed that help?

Lol yeah. I appreciate your guys help though.
And I didn't backup whatsoever. Didn't know I was suppose to. I'm completely new when it comes to a smart phone at all.

Just got rooted today i believe. And to check i deleted apps from tb to see if they would come back after reboot. And they didnt. So i guess im now permrooted
Thats when i accidently deleted clocks widget.

Ok, no problem.

First thing to know - some apps are bound to the system such that your phone will become unstable if they're removed - hence the hard warning and questions.

You want to have something called clockwork mod recovery (cwm) installed now that you have perm root. That lets you make an image backup - a nandroid. With that, you can always recover. Without it, you can nearly brick your phone and end up sad.

Have you installed cwm yet?

BTW, I've not heard of temporarily deleting apps before.

well I was temprooted only. Used TB to delete the apps. But since it was temproot only, the deleted apps came back after boot.

When I tried the first attempt to flash clockwork, it said an error occured trying to gain root privelages??? I don't understand if my phone is rooted why I don't have root privs.

This is a bizarre case, I can imagine your frustration.

If you power up holding the volume down and power button, you'll get to the bootloader (let go of buttons when you see words on screen flowing by).

Does it say s-off there?

Reboot, report back - but I think the next thing will be to follow the steps in the first post of the how-to thread I linked earlier.

A total pain, I get it, but better safe than sorry.

PS - did you update busybox inside titanium backup?

Just did.
Eng S-off is what it says.
And yes I did update TB with busybox.

So you're saying is to manually reroot the phone again?

I'm saying now you're rooted with nand access and that cwm problem shouldn't be happening.

Pull the battery for 60 seconds, re-try the cwm install.

You have superuser permissions installed, yes?

Dumb question: if I were to flash that stock rom, I would obtain the clocks widget back?
Is there another way, like downloading the stock clock widget, putting it on my sd card, then installing it through there?

IDK which rom, but to answer your question, yes. You should get the HTC widgets back if you flash a sense rom.

Installing that rom will restore the goods.

As to the next question, theoretically, kinda maybe, but actually, I don't know what happens without the clock app being there for the widget to exploit.

I know you can download more widgets from HTC, but I wouldn't personally endorse attempts to sideload stock Sense goodies. Others with some Sense dev experience might know better.

I still have the clock app. Just not the widget for it. i'm just trying to find somewhere if its possible getting it back without flashing the stock rom. I tried looking on the market, couldnt find it. Tried finding a download link and couldnt find that either.

OK - I was under the impression that you deleted the clock app itself.

Have you tried to download other HTC widgets? Long-press a blank spot on the screen, choose widgets - get more HTC widgets.

Worth a shot.

Lol already tried before I posted this. Hmm. It's okay. I'll probably end up flashing a custom rom anyway later down the road.
