Ace 2 to skip ICS & get Jelly Bean

Hi everyone,

Have you guys seen the gossip over on GSM Arena??
It seems our Ace 2 is skipping the proposed ICS update & going straight to Jelly Bean, by the end of 2012! I'll believe it when I see it, but fingers crossed eh......:p

This is brilliant news! Let's hope we get it before the end of the year.. Gingerbread is looking a bit tired compared to ICS & Jelly Bean.

I'm very happy with this news. It'll be interesting to see what's changed between versions - what difference it makes "in the wild". I like the phone as-is, but it's nice to know its users aren't going to be left behind.

Fantastic!
I've only just branched into the Android market and was quite impressed by Gingerbread. I've read some mixed reviews about Ice Cream Sandwich, so the transition to Jelly Bean should be just in time for me to get bored of Gingerbread!

Please keep us posted on when the devices can get the update (specifically Galaxy Ace 2).

Ta!

Very nice. me and my wife both just bought the Ace 2 knowing it had the "old" OS. So it is nice to hear we also will get the new OS. A nice x-mas present.

P.s. We love the phones. It's our first smart phone :D

1. let everyone else do the upgrade first. Gingerbread is a well established stable OS. If there are going to be any problems, then lets someone else, and not you, find them all out and wait till all the bug fixes have been done. You don't need the hassle.

2. More importantly, the newer OS will I expect use more ram storage and more CPU time, just like newer PC OS's seem to. It will scroll better etc and so on...... It will no doubt have lots of newer 'features', most of which most people probably won't use.........
And as a result all of the improvements, it is going to do exactly what to the useable battery time?
Yeah, it will reduce it, well what a surprise there.

Enginering rule No 1 applies here - "if it ain't broke don't fix it."

Not bad advice from the founder memeber of the Flat Earth Society :D:D:D
