Root Ace Hack Kit And Linux

Dear fellow members, guides and moderators!

Today i want to discuss some technical issues with you people.i am currently using DHD non rooted phone. i decided to root my phone and then i went through forums and decided to use it on linux based platform. i made two different live cd of linux . one for 64 bit and other for 32 bit. i am using HP Pavillion dv6 series entertainment notebook with factory installed windows vista home premium 64 bit edition. the problem arises whenever i tried to use linux live cd either 64 or 32 bit on my laptop. it never boot with linux. then i decided to use directly ace hack kit on my laptop . but again same result. at this point i again went through various forums regarding linux and finally concluded that linux can't be run on 64 bit systems.it works only on 32 bit systems.then i went to one of my friend and used ace hack kit on his 32 bit laptop. it started but after sometime it asked for passkey that i dont have.then i decided to seek guidance from one and only The DURX one of our senior guide, and he advised me to start a thread with exact symptoms and problems so that solution can be developed.

this was the back ground now the areas i need assistance is that is that possible to use linux live cd on 64 bit windows vista and whats the passkey for ace hack kit?

i'll be waiting for your reply, comments, suggestion.
cheers and best regards
Ahmed

Hey Ahmed - thanks for starting a thread on this!

As I said in the PM, I have been discussing this with another guide and we think we can help you to root without using the AAHK.

Basically, you will be manually downgrading your phone to an older build of the firmware. This older version is exploitable using a one click root app on your phone to get temp, then perm root. After this, you would need to use a couple of one click tools on the PC to get Radio/ENG S-Off.

The other guide, Scotty85, is in the USA... he may not be up yet, but knows about this and will be able to reply as soon as he is online! :)

Ahmed,

Not sure about your 64 bit problem, as i only have 32 bit myself. As for the passkey, it should be located it the "effen manual" which you should find in the actual ace hack kit download files.
If i remember, i think it was about half way down the manual and it was a link, which was called "cajunText"?

Thanks to every one DURX,Scotty85 and Stevevercs

Guys i have started rooting. and let me tell you one thing i didn't read the mannual completely...hehehhe.....i read the mannual completely and then i started the procedure as it was given in the mannual. one thing i have realized that the link given for AAHK leads to an older version. because cmd asked to downgrade or not. i entered yes and then it was popped out this version of AAHK cannot downgrade your firmware . and now it is downloading another file which i hope will finally root my phone.this file is PD98IMG.zip and about 247 MB in size.uptill now 27% is downloaded. now i am going for exercise...i will catch you guys after an hour...see you then and once again thanks a lot for quick reply...just take care and stay blessed and happy...

Cheers and best regards from Pakistan..

unfortunately,i dont know much about 64 vs 32 bit systems,or linux. :o so if the guys can get you sorted on either of those issues,it may be that you want to continue on the path that youre on.

failing that,i believe we can manually downgrade and root pretty easily.

option number one would be to follow directions in this thread to downgrade:
http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...b-build-downgrade-1-32-405-6-easy-follow.html

then you can install an app called visionary to root the old firmware, and use this tool to radio s-off:
[TOOL][VIDEO] One click Radio S-OFF, SimUnlock (Easy Root & S-OFF Guide) - xda-developers

option number two would be to do it all manually. ive put together a download and some adb commands that should let you manually donwgrade to a rootable 1.32.405.6 firmware, and then temp root and use an exploit called gfree to radio s-off,superCID,and simunlock in one shot :)

i also may have located an inspire for a price i can afford to pay for it,so soon i should be able to test everything first and make sure it works :)

option number one is using some automated tools that i have no experience with,so the only way to know how smoothly they may go is to try them. the different steps and tools could be a little confusing if youre not an organized individual(tho from your OP it doesnt sound like this is the case). if youre intimidated by adb and entering commands in a cmd window, then this may be the better option.

if youve got some adb/fastboot experience, and are comfortable entering commands in cmd, then option two may be easier than fooling with the tools in option one,its pretty straightforward. the manual method would be similar to the commands in the OP in steps 5 and 6 of this thread, just to give you an idea: http://androidforums.com/merge-all-things-root/434029-root-s-off-simunlock-supercid-htc-merge.html

its entirely up to you.we can help either way, just let us know what questions you have if it comes down to having to use a manual method to downgrade and root. :)

has it moved forward yet? it can take some time to push a file as large as a full ruu thru a usb cable, tho 1/2 hours is a little longer than id expect.

That does sound a little too long... when I rooted my mates phone, the whole process was over in less than half an hour.

Hi guys
i checked the phone afterwards. file was there in the sd card and there is another folder named gcard....but i cant see any change in my phone...should i do rooting again?

Hi guys.....how you doing?
well last night i finally got success in rooting and downgraded the firmware to required version. Scoty thanks a lot i used cmd method which is quite easy as compared to aahk. then i did this thing again using aahk...but i am more comfortable with cmd method. and it works well on 64 bit vista which is most disastrous operating systems.anyways after rooting i installed cyanogen......and it really sucks coz it is again with htc sense which now seems to be non sense....i am just joking please dont take it serious.anyways today i was searching and i decided to go for absolution which is sense less...link for this rom is [ROM/MOD][The Family] Absolution-2/4/12-*NO LONGER UNDER DEVEOPMENT* - xda-developers
i just want to know one thing ..in this thread author has written you can get a better radio..should i change the radio or i should go with one which is already provided. and secondly should i do downgradation again or not coz already i have done rooting.
in the end again i will thank to DURX who is always here to guide me in my pity issues....DURX you are great and scotty you are also awesome coz you gave me a new direction and everyone else who participated in this thread and provided valuable information. i thank you all

everybody stay happy, blessed and always helpful
Cheers
Ahmed

Hi Ahmed - good to hear that you have finally gotten your phone rooted!

You do not have to change the radio... it is recomended only. I would say leave it for now and see what the battery life/signal is like. If you think it is bad, then you can think about changing the radio.

The ROM you have linked is no longer under development... that's not a bad thing, it just means there will be no more updates. If you want to check out some other ROM's, have a look at this thread - http://androidforums.com/desire-hd-...hings-root-guide-updated-2nd-june-2012-a.html - I am keeping the list as up to date as I can :)

awsome! im glad you are rooted as well, and especially glad that you were able to make use of my guide. putting the commands together was fairly easy, but i put forth alot of effort to the rest of the directions,to the point of unrooting the phone so i could get the output for the code boxes. since it was helpful,it was well worth it

as far as the radio goes,as long as you are not on the downgrade radio, you are prolly fine with whatever you have. if you havent upgraded from that yet, then i certainly would. i just ran the the ruu 3.12.405.12(wich itself is a nice, unbranded factory rom) and ran it for a couple days, then installed a rom. my reasoning being this is one of the newest, prolly most efficient roms/firmwares from htc,so hopefully the radio and firmware give good performance.

are you looking for an AOSP,or a sense rom? if looking for AOSP,i just installed the one D-U-R-X lists in info: [ROM]01-06-2012 | IceColdSandwich - 8.0 - AOKP | SoB EDITION - xda-developers

so far im finding it extremely smooth and fast-a very nice rom. the bugs listed are:
-mms for some users(works fine for me)
-video camera, but lists videoillusion from the market for a work around.
check it out if you like AOSP.

if you are looking for a sense rom, there do appear to be a couple listed, but i havent tried any of them yet.
