Hi I am new to this site, I wonder if any one can help? I bought my son a an acer iconia tablet for his birthday and have just found out that he has broken the screen. He is gutted and i am mad! Can it be mended?

Well, you can usually replace the screen / digitizer on phones (haven't personally done this or had it done myself, though). I would imagine that you could for a tablet, too, but it would certainly be pricier.
I'm also guessing that you don't have insurance on the device (I know that some cover just about anything that happens and you just have to pay a fee to get a refurb).
Try posting something in the Iconia tablet forums (I don't know which one you have), to see what the folks there recommend:
