Acer Liquid E : Ferrari Edition , Boot issue

Hi,

I was playing with one of the OS files : framework-res.apk in the system folder. My Acer liquid E is broken now, it is just stuck at the boot, and repeatly playing the boot sound.

Hard reset also did not help. Tried installing the froyo again. but it now says the froyo version is for 512 MB ram . I have been running the same OS version for 5 month long and damn sure my mobile has 512 MB ram.

Any help would be greatly appriciated

Thanks,
Balamurali S

That is weird.

Shut off your device and charge the battery. Once you have a full charge (or close to a full charge), hold down Power+Volume Down+Camera, phone will vibrate 2-4 times. Then hold down Power+Camera and phone will boot into Recovery mode (you will see a little Android robot with a ! down the middle).

Once you see that, flash the Ferrari Froyo .BIN file. You can find it here near the bottom of the first post- Acer Liquid and Liquid E ALL ROMs bin extract collection - Android @ MoDaCo (AAP=Asia/Asia Pacific, EMEA=Europe/Middle East/Australia, doesn't really matter which one you flash but for warranty purposes, would be better to flash the one specifically for your region, might be a good idea to check the Acer site to see which exact version is for your phone).

You will download that .BIN and follow these instructions to flash the .BIN to your phone- [TUTORIAL] How to flash .bin files on Acer Liquid/E - Android @ MoDaCo

If anything goes wrong during the flashing process, do not panic and refer to this thread- [TIP] Dont try to restart phone during flash if it looses connection, or u will have a bricked liquid! [MOD PLEASE STICKY!] - Android @ MoDaCo

Please know that this will wipe all data from your phone and pretty much start you from fresh (don't think that you have any options to recover your data unfortunately).

Good luck.

Thanks Hustlin, For the quick reply..Trying this out now... Will reply with the status.....BTW how is TX, its been a year i visited it. Am now in India

Well That solved the problem!!! Thanks Again.

How does flashing a froyo bin differnt from installing the froyo installer from acer. Is this 2 differnt things.

Hey, Texas has been good (though a huge drought lately). How you liking India? Never been but always have wanted to check it out (been to Pakistan a couple of times, enjoyed it, I'd imagine that India is alot nicer/cleaner).

To answer the question, the Acer installer is the official way while flashing bins is the unofficial way. Using the Download Tool to flash bins allows you to install any bin from any region while using the Acer Installer only allows you to install the ROM for that particular region (the .bin files are extracted from the official Acer ROMs or leaked to the public before the official release). Flashing a ROM from a different region (or any damage from flashing a bin) does void your warranty while using the Acer installer does not (however, since you flashed the appropriate region, you will be okay in terms of warranty).

Hope that helped.
