Acer Liquid E internal storage

Thanks Hustlin

Those were great links and great info, much appreciated.
I hope you'll forgive me for asking for further confirmation :)

The only reason I want to root my phone is to get rid of some of those preloaded "crapps" to free up space, and be able to freely move apps to the SD card and back.

Is there a "simple" root out there? I've read enough threads now - all with links to a root tool - that I'm a bit confused which one is the most up to date and if they all have the same level of control.

Honestly, the best method I know of is MalezRecovery. It seems complicated but once you go through the steps, it is actually quite simple.

There is a menu within the custom recovery (the "System Root Menu") which allows you to easily root the device (I believe Root Method 1.1 is the most popular) and install Busybox (which apps such as Titanium Backup require to work).

There are one-click root programs which might work, I don't really know anything about it (never used it, for some reason, I don't really trust it because I have no idea what permissions the app requires).

Guys this is really weird, but I can upload Males recovery to my heart's content to my Acer Liquid E, but upon reboot, I find the plain old recovery menu!
adb, fastboot, both work great, report success, as does the phone!
Any ideas whats going on? Thanks!

Here is my sequence..
Plug in usb..
adb reboot bootloader
(pause)
fastboot -i 0x0502 flash recovery malezRecovery_0.6.1.img
(reports OK)
fastboot -i 0x0502 reboot

A few days ago I ran out of space to install apps again, actually I ran out of space to update apps, 10MB Maps update needed some extra room.

It came to a point where I can't compare video calls on Fring and Tango, I can't install them both at the same time, only one or the other, and I need to uninstall something like Flash first.

I realize I'm a very late arrival but I see rooting as my only hope.

What are the general steps if I want to free up internal storage? Will the bloatware like Roadsync and Social Jogger become removable via Manage Applications or should I install a ROM stripped of all this crap that never worked in the first place, like Acer registration? I wanted to be a good boy and register my Liquid but Acer never accepted my product number, not from the phone, not via website.

Do I understand it right that after rooting I should be able to dupe the phone into using a new partition on SD card as internal storage to place Davlic and cache in? Will I ever see "this app cannot be moved to SD card" message again?

What is the latest and safest method to root? It's been almost a year since people started rooting Froyo, half a year since most advice in this thread. I understand people on Rogers need a special approach, what about my Asia Pacific, non China version?

In short, I'm asking for general "rootmap" to increase internal storage and for any particular changes since those "how to root" threads has been written.

I just restored the default order setting of my phone after having had the same problems as everyone else in this thread. After booting my intern phone memory is on 146 MB, where did the rest go? Are these 4 MB used by those pointless "SocialJogger" stuff, Acer puts on all phones? I'm now as well considering rooting my phone, but what are the following: "malez-recovery", "installMalezRecovery_xxx_SCRIPT.zip" (where do I get it, how do I install it on my phone?), "one-click installer", "titanium backup", "Busybox"; do I use them before, while or after rooting? How do I install them (Computer or on my phone via the Market??) and why do I need them (what do they do)?? And what is that: Rogers/Fido ROM? :( Thanks in advance for everyone who already distributed to this thread and those who might answer bei newbie questions ;) daedeloth
