Acronym Confusion

Hello. I am pretty new to android and smart phones in general. I found this site a few days ago and have been trying to read as much as I can. The information on here has been very helpful, but I am having trouble with a few of the acronyms that people are using. I have tried to search, but it won't work when I am just typing in 3 letters. A couple that I am having problems with are:
ATK
ATM (not a cash machine I am assuming)
OCD (I assume it is obsessive compulsive disorder but want to be sure)
OTA (I think this means over the air but want to be sure)
OTD (If the previous one is over the air then is this over the desktop?)
VNC

Also, I have been reading some stuff about root and while I still don't really understand it I am wondering if there will be some kind of guide when we get it.

Yeah OK, I'm getting a good chuckle out of OTD 'over the desktop', now there's a visual... (sorry OTD). ;)
And apologies FordSam3 for the laugh at your expense. OTD is OfTheDamned, a regular poster here (the hot chick with the fangs...). (OK, still giggling...).

ATK is Advanced Task Killer, an app in the market place.
ATM is Advanced Task Manager, another app.
VNC, I don't remember what it stands for, but it's a remote control program, to control a computer with a different computer (or phone).
The others you've got right.
 
OTD also = Open Technology Development

something we embrace here as members of this Android society.

I think most people posting here are referring to OfTheDamned though.

Ok haha.

Thank you for the apology fordsam3, but it was unnecessary. You didn't do anything wrong. It was the rest of these dirty minded guys that should be saying sorry. I can't blame them though, I found it pretty funny myself and my mind is probably just as dirty. :D I will say, for the record, I have never been over a desktop so you guys can clear that out of your heads right away. :rolleyes:

I actually don't even know how I got an acronym in the first place.

I believe the second reason far more than I do the first, but I'll take the first one. ;)
