Activating Desire after screen has gone to sleep

After the screen goes off after 1min (or whatever you have it configured to) is the only way to get it back on to press the power button at the top of the phone? I find it a little awkward - can't I just press the button on the bottom front of the phone? is there an app for that ;) ?
 
I'd also be interested, maybe an app that brings the screen back if you click the volume rocker or something along those lines. Falls much more easily to hand, and less important if it dies due to overuse.
 
there isnt an app, but some of the custom roms include trackball wake (or options for it)... you will need to root your phone and then flash it to a custom rom
 
Sounds like Froyo is taking a step in the right direction, but I'd still prefer them to stick that function on the volume rocker! Shame you can't do it without rooting, I have no desire to mess around with the phone like that.
 
Yes there is an app for that :) It's called No Lock and is free from the market. It allows you to unlock the screen using any of the buttons.

but only problem ive found with no lock is that when its in your pocket a slight depress of the home or back button will unlock the phone and possibly inadvertently call soemone,
 
Yea that would make sense...looked at no lock this morning but it didn't even occur to me that it would enable you to use the buttons! :rolleyes: I'll download it and give it a try.

It has a widget which you can place on your homescreen and a single click will reactivate the normal locking mechanism if you are putting the phone in your pocket.

Interesting. I am looking forward to Froyo even more now!

I haven't tried "No Lock" yet, but I may give it a bash for the sake of it. I may try out "No Lock" as well! :D
 
Installed no lock - Does what is says on the tin perfectly. Recommended to people who keep their phone in a case (Aka won't activate it in their pocket with their leg) and are lazy/worried about wearing out the power key. :)
 
I have been using Lock Bot free after a rec' on here. It enables you to wake up the screen with a couple of button pushes ( Home, menu, search) and also vibrates so it shouldnt do any damage if it happens accidentally in your pocket.

Yup that is a problem, and one that annoyed the crap out of the missus the other week, when my pocket called her, and locked up her phone for about 30 mins. Till I realised LMFAO
 
tried MyLock - didn't seem to work for me (no explanation of configs, ticked various combos etc... but nothing would let me wake the phone by pressing the menu/home/track/back/search button).

Trying No Lock now.
 
GAH. I don't like Froyo's implementation of button press wake-up. I upgraded to Froyo and noticed that for some odd reason, my phone kept turning on in my pocket. For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what I was doing - had to make sure that I turned it off every time before putting it my pocket.

Any how, now it wakes up too easily and I don't want that. Any way to disable the front key wake up?
