activity dialer not responding unable to make phone calls

lately i have been problems with my droid when i try to make a call it takes really long and it freezes up and then it will give me a error message that my activity dialer is not responding. then it will give me the option to force close or wait. it also shuts down on me during calls and has been freezing up on me when i try to use it.:mad:
 
I just got hit by this and I am on hold with Verizon. Has anyone else noticed this? OP, can you share what was the outcome of your issue?
 
I just hung up with Tech support. They say this error means there are wayyyy too many apps open/running on my phone. The solution for this issue is to go into application/running services and close pretty much everything that you can close. The phone will be back to normal.

Are we talking windows in Linux's skin here?
