actual FM radio

Hi, I dont have the S2 yet but I would like to find out before I get it. Does the Boost version have an actual FM radio in it? Like one that will pick up my local small town stations? Could any help me in finding out? I would LOVE to know and would LOVE it if it does. Here is an app that possibly could help in finding out if it does.

Thanks

BTW, you have to be rooted to use it.

I briefly had an HTC Evo Design 4g that had fm built in. It was mildly cool and I used it once in a blue moon to dial in npr.

My belief was the GS2 did not have an fm tuner built in and I'm pretty sure that's correct. I got your link to open in the market after a few tries and it indicated that "your device is not compatible with this app".

So I think an fm radio it is not.

But it is:
A flashlight, an mp3 player, an alarm clock, a digital still camera, a GPS, a video camera, a newspaper, a book reader, a calendar, a handheld gaming system, a level, a clock, a weather station...

Cg, help me out here... We gotta keep this guy excited about his new S2! :)

.. Oh i almost forgot, you can call people on it! (what's that feature called again? It was something I used when I was little before text and email)

Seriously you'll love it man. I'd be surprised if most of your local fm stations don't stream anyways but yes that was a cool (simple) feature I dug on the evo!

If you use sprint roms like fl04 or ga10 it will have sprint fm on it which is a radio app I dont know because I never use bloatware on my androif and 99% of what I listen to is on the device it self plus with crappy data service in my area it really dosent do Nygood to stream or play but 99% you can use fm radio apps from different devices or roms if its built in

I know your probably trying to get away from using a lot of Data or maybe have low signal but I have HTC evo with built in FM radio and use it from time to time but it requires wired head set which acts as an antenna but I use an app called tune in radio that works great but streams Data. If your not worried about Data give it a try.

I use Tunein Radio Pro on it which allows me to receive radio stations that stream on the internet. I also use the phone as a metal detector, a bar code reader, a remote for the Xbox360, a web browser, instant messenger, etc....

Lol I can't wait to get one. I also have tune in pro and love it. It doesn't hurt my battery life like I thought it would. Does the metal detectors really work?

No, I could do tune in radio now with my transform ultra.. Thats not what i want... :(
Here's the link to the guy's XDA page with the radio stuff so if anyone wants to try it out to see if its actually compatible. Google doesnt know everything about every phone and will block a lot of files unnecessarily.

Okay, pay attention people there are multiple versions of the Galaxy S2. The one for t-mobile is not the same hardware. That is why we go by model number.

So true, so many different variations of the S2....just like the fact other S2s have NFC function but sprints don't.

Wow! I never knew there was such a thing as a metal detector. That's funny. Idk what I will ever need it for but it works just fine lol.

Then someone tell me how to use boosts s2 radio. I've tried many apps. It only streams online stations. stations. Either the hardware or the software for the FM radio is missing. And by this stage, I think it's the hardware. Can rooted phones play radio stations? Cause otherwise, we're waiting for an update that might never come.

Once again, The SPH-D710 which is Sprint/boosts SGS2 does not have the hardware for FM radio. If you want to listed to radio you have to stream it off the internet.
