Actual specs -vs- Bionic??

Thanks! :) A faster processor and HTC Sense + ISC leaves me wanting to know more already haha!

Ice Cream Sandwich. I doubt seriously that the Vigor will run it out of the box. I'd wager it'll get the upgrade, but that's all. Either way, I'll root it like I have my Incredible (Synergy ROM rocks) and ICS will be on it then lol

ICS has been rumored to be out by the end of the year, so there's a possibility. Phones are always delayed and the Vigor is slated for an early-October release. I see more of a late-October/ early-November if not a few weeks before the holiday season.

I believe that there is absolutely NO chance the vigor ships with ICS.

Though not an exact science you can pretty much say that the vigor will not see ICS until at least 3 months after it's release (ICS' release that is). This is mostly because of sense but also because vzw loves bug testing the crap out of their ota's....

They are still trying to get GB to several of their newer devices and GB was out for a while when those devices launched

Point being is we need to be patient for ICS. No biggie.

What I personally won't be patient for is more leaked info on the VIGOR!!

I NEED LEAKED PICS! LEAKED SPECS!! A TESTER SECRETLY PUTTING VIDEOS UP!! A CONFIRMED RELEASE DATE!!

AAAARRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

/rant

K, i'm better now

The Vigor is going to blow the bionic out of the water when it comes to multimedia, processing, etc with its giant 1.5 ghz dual core processor and plenty of ram and disk space for just about anything. The only draw back I see with the vigor over Bionic is it is limited to 3G.... HTC - Fail it will not be a 4G LTE phone, But if 3G is fine for you then Id put my money on the Vigor. HTC is still expecting great sells since it is supposed to replace the 4G LTE thunderbolt that didnt sell as they expected. So maybe not having 4G wont hurt the vigor. We shall see. If I had the upgrade capability I would buy the Vigor, just seems better all way round than the Bionic plus im a sense fan running the incredible now with sense 3.0....

Why on Earth would you say the Vigor would be a 3G phone? Do you have some information the rest of us don't have access to?

normally phones lag (and Verizon more so) the android release at least a few months.

if ICS is due end of the year. It will be march or later before it start making the rounds. so Vigor will almost certainly NOT have ICS at launch. (if its launched any time before april next year)

It just passed through the fcc so usually that is about a month (except in rare cases) from when it goes through fcc and when it is released.

I agree. I'm expecting an October 6 or 13 launch. I'll take a good look at it. I'm holding out for Prime as of now, but the HD screen on the Vigor is very appealing. I'm just wondering if battery will suck as much as other HTC's.

Go see my post #15 in this thread. It's about on par w/the Bionics battery specs...probably better than the Thunderbolts....but still not what we all would like. We're probably still 1-2 years away from significant battery improvements. That's just life in the early stages of 4G LTE.

Yeah but the vigor has an hd screen so that can be another drain on battery. Hopefully htc got something worked out with battery and since this is dual core hopefully that will help some.

I think we'll see better battery life a bit sooner then that. Once the 28nm S4 SoC appears in devices (Qualcomm says end of this year but I would bet next spring at the earliest for VZW) I would expect a significant improvement in efficiency (I think I read somewhere 70%), especially since that SoC has an on-board LTE modem.

True, however the MSM8660 that will be in the Vigor has many enhancements in performance and power savings over a standard A9 like the OMAP. Here's a couple of links to compare:

OMAP/STD. A9:OMAP

Is this going to have HDMI? That would really suck if it didn't. I mean after waiting for 16 months I would expect them to have added HDMI by now.

I leaked some Bionic shots the week before release, but I never got to see the phone powered up and at the home screen. My local VW store just relocated and I stopped in today to see the Bionic in more detail. It ran smooth and lots of cool accessories for it.

The one thing I wanted to see and compare was the screens. Just looking at the wallpaper screen, it seemed fine. But when you looked at the top bar with the notifications, battery meter, etc....you could definitely see the pixelation in it. I then walked over to the Incredible 2 and Thunderbolt and looked at the same top bar...no pixelation at all. So as long as the Vigor/TB2 is using the Sony Super LCD, I'd say this is one feature it wins over the Bionic.

For those who have owned a HTC phone, what are you opinions on build quality and useability of their phones? Do they hold up well?? Well built? Any common issues, problems know about their phones? I'm waiting for something to hit, whether it's the Bionic, the SGS2 or this. I really like Samsungs top quality screen. How are HTC's screens?? It kinda makes no sense to jump on the Bionic right out the door when there are other top phones coming out a month later. So guess I'm stuck with my little buddy Droid for awhile longer....

I have owned the HTC incredible, Droid X, the HTC Thunderbolt and now the Bionic. Personally, I am much more partial to motorola just because for some reason I love the build quality over HTC, that and their widgets. My HTC thunderbolt's kickstand already started to peel a week after I got it. My Droid Incredible's metal camera ring came loose a month into use. Not to mention the battery problems with HTC were beginning to really annoy me. The droid X was one of the most solid phones I ever owned and it gave me no problems. And so far with the Bionic its the same. Like repeated every else on this forum, if you keep on waiting for the best phone you won't end up with one. Also, the Bionic is actually a product of two phones being squashed together so it isn't like Motorola just threw it out here thinking it wasn't going to be competitive.

Anyways besides all of this, I went into verizon to get the Droid Bionic at full retail price. But there was some kind of glitch in the verizon system and I got to upgrade a 2 year price even though I was already on a 2 year contract (I am on a family plan and not the primary line). So in the end I am very happy with the steal that I got.

I also have the DX and have absolutely NO complaints about it. It has been the best phone I've ever owned. BUT... I am a slight phone whore, and am always looking to upgrade. :p

I'm also still on contract with VZW and My NE2 isn't till May-2012. BUT, I saw online that they're letting me upgrade early. :D So, I'm waiting for the Vigor, and if for some reason it's not as good as I want it to be, I'll probably go with the Bionic. Then in another 2 years I'll get whatever the latest quad core, 3Ghz+, 3Gig+ RAM, 1080p?, HD, 4G/5G/LTE, Android 5.? Jello/6.? Kettle Corn, pocket computer that also makes phone calls. lol

Bionic is getting worse and worse by the day. Too many issues.

People HATE the screen and the camera so far.
