Ad blocking in Jellybean? (S2)

Sorry if this has been asked before - doing a search returned nothing relevant for my query. So I just upgraded to Jellybean, and I see that Adfree won't start, as the version is suddenly "too old and needs to be upgraded". The app has of course been removed from google play, as all blogs seem to report, and the same goes for all other ad-blocking apps.

But my question is: is it worth taking the trouble to root my phone (it was rooted before, in ICS), now that ad-blocking will - as it seems - no longer exist in Jellybean? Or is that not actually the case? Aside from this, I had no other reason really to need a rooted phone...

Many thanks for any help!

There are other reasons for rooting a phone if they are uncompelling to you then maybe its not worth it.

I know :) For me, being able to block ads was the main though, and I probably would not bother were it not for this particular reason.

So is there way to block ads in Jellybean, assuming that Adfree and Ad-away are not coming back?

ROM Manager has a built in ad-blocking feature, but you have to be rooted.

If ROM Manager's ad-blocking feature continues to work in Jellybean, then I'm definitely going to root Jellybean as well.

I don't know how efficient ROM Manager is, but Adfree used to completely block out even Youtube ads - I didn't know they existed, until I made the mistake of upgrading to Jellybean :( At least it wasn't all for nothing: I see that they have, at least, fixed the very annoying WiFi bug that made S2 phones randomly and periodically freeze/reboot
