Root ad hoc to connectify hotspot?

I was wondering if there was any way to connect a rooted evo v to a ad hoc network. As far as I can tell, android does not support connecting to ad hoc networks with wifi. I have tried a few methods suggested from the web, and I have gotten ad hoc networks to show up on my phone, but I still can't connect to them?

Does anyone have a solution? I am willing to experiment with my phone.
