I did it all manually but I do know that you need the latest adb inorder to get adb to work or adb devices will constantly show offline. Make sure you have the latest adb on your windows computer

wait you unlocked the boot loader? if so all you need is fastboot to flash the recovery.

I downloaded the latest SDK toolkit from this forum and moved the adb + 2 other files (can't remember at the moment) to my rootkit data directory, Still no sucess.

Please explain what you mean "fastboot to flash the recovery" Is this the same as Pressing the Root function in the tool ?

Kinda, it's one of the manual steps needed to do it. You boot the tablet into fastboot/bootloader, connect it to your PC and use the command prompt to push a custom recovery image on there. Once TWRP/Clockwork is installed, you can use that to flash the SU.zip file and root your N7.

Ok, so im using this guide since it's the closest I can find to my problem.
http://androidforums.com/nexus-7-al...lly-re-root-after-ota-update.html#post5262082

Ran the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, see attach.

Looks OK to me, please provide feedback on this.

The problem starts when i try to reboot into recovery mode to flash the 3 su files. On the nexus a broken android robot is shown. I wait for 5 minutes.

So i reboot into normal. But now i still have not flashed the SU files.

Am I doing this right ??

Twrp looks to have flashed ok and you boot into it successfully? Are you given any error message when flashing the su.zip?

Here is what I did step by step.

1. Connected USB to Comp. Copied the 3 SU files to Nexus Download directory. Disconnected
2. Manually Boot to bootloader by pressing power+volume up/down
3. Plugged in USB. Open command line and ran the fastboot flash recovery
4. Rebooted into bootloader, Choose recovery by using the volume button and pressed the powerbutton.
5. The nexus then starts booting and then shows me the picture

At this point nothing happens so i hold power button to reboot.

Now what have I done Wrong ?

Finally.

1. Downloaded Twrp 2.4.4.0
2. Booted into bootloader.
3. Ran the fastboot command.

4. This time I used the option reboot into bootloader before choosing Recovery Option. Got into recovery at last and then flashed the su files.

Sixaxis controll and retroarch + mhl hdmi to big ass flatscreens everywhere.

I had the driver perfectly installed but never found anything listed from "Adb-devices" - however, I soon received a suggestion from windows that "for better performance I should plug my device into a high performance usb port" .. . I switch ports and all of a sudden everything is fine.

I haven't seen much mention of this issue, but you should consider making sure you are all plugging your devices into "high performance/high speed" ports. :)

I have the same problem. When I run the Nexus Toolkit v1.6.4 my Nexus 7 v4.2.2. is not found. I tried several USB ports. No success.

Every time I run the Full Driver Test the I receive message ADB Device was not found.
I see the Android device in the Device Manager. When I disconnect I disappears, so the behavior is normal. DO I have to root the device? When I runt the backup under NRTK it even reboots the Nexus 7 but then after reboot the backup freezes up.

1. Nexus 7 v.4.2.2.
2. Win 8 64
3. Norton Internet Security 2013
4. Tried all proposed Driver solutions in NRTK v1.6.4. with no success.
4. Google ADB dated 8/27.2012 version 7.0.0.1 shows as working properly.
5. USB debugging enabled.

Are you perhaps using a USB 3.0 port? This causes trouble from time to time.
