Root ADB help required

yea I can not get this to work either and I'm pretty good with computers which is why im so frustrated....can someone help explain this a little more clearly...The "*daemon started" does not show up at all, but It does list my device ID. I can't get this to work right, it still says im running 2.3.4 after it reboots. When I downloaded the SDK I had one thing that was unable to install(google APi's) when I updated.
(Downloading Google USB Driver package, revision 4
File not found: C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\temp\usb_driver_r04-windows.zip (Access is denied)

Should I have not updated? my file path for SDK as listed on top of SDK manager says C:\Program Files (X86)\Android\android\sdk I am unable to run sudo when i command adb shell, I get a $ and not a #. I'm also not too sure of what path to start with(the exact code) if I have to use the SDK path first. I am completely lost to how I am doing this wrong. I bet it is the stupidest thing that I am over looking or something. I'd really appreciate the help so I can get my phone rooted. Thanksss

when I try to to type in a ADB commend in CMD I am getting the following message:

"ADB is not recognized "

Can somebody please help me what I am doing wrong here

I think I can help you with that part. Open the windows or lin folder for whatever OS your using and copy it to the main part of the folder. So open extracted folder then tools then win (or lin) and copy all 5 individual files and paste them in the main part of the extracted folder. This got me past the "adb not recognized part, however I'm stuck on the following step.

Hope that works for you

If you are trying to root your HTC phone than that could be the problem. Also 'sudo' is used on Linux, 'su' is used in Android.

I'm sorry I know this is the Droid forum but when I searched my error this is where it took me. I'm following downgrade/root instructions for my phone incredible 2. But I figured i could use ideas from here. What do you mean if I'm trying to root HTC? I'm trying to downgrade and then root. I'm stuck on the downgrade part. And I know you can't run sudo, I ment Su but that won't work either.

Sounds like a driver issue maybe, but I'm going to ask your conversation in this thread be moved to the proper forums section. since you are trying to do something on an HTC Incredible with info from the Motorola Droid section. Hope you get more help over there.

good luck
