Hello all!
For background, I have a PC running Windows 7 and I'd installed the SDK, etc... software package after watching the videos a few times and figured I was ready to give it all a try. I'd started down the road to performing a manual root last night (Per the instructions in this section) and I kept coming up with a problem I couldn't get past. After installing the ADB tools, plugging in my Thunderbolt with the USB cable, and doing a test search for my device, the prompt kept telling me that my TB was there, but "disconnected". I tried to connect through HTC Sync desktop software and through the phone menu also to see if that worked, but both kept telling me that the phone or the software on the PC weren't there. When I put the phone in disk drive mode, it shows up in explorer as being there, but otherwise it's as if it can't talk to my computer.
This morning I removed all the ADB and HTC software and re-installed it from the link on XDA on the chance I messed something up the first time. I plan on trying again tonight so we'll see if that does it. However, I assume (maybe naively) that I'm not the only one this has ever happened too. Did I miss a step along the way or are the Android gods playing games with me? Enquiring minds want to now!
Thanks for any help/ insight!
